Publisher's summary

Janet Evanovich, author of the blockbuster Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, writer for the Monk television show, team up once again for the fifth book in their rollicking, New York Times best-selling Fox and O'Hare series!

Nicolas Fox, international con man, thief, and one of the top 10 fugitives on the FBI's most-wanted list, has been kidnapped from a beachfront retreat in Hawaii. What the kidnapper doesn't know is that Nick Fox has been secretly working for the FBI. It isn't long before Nick's covert partner, Special Agent Kate O'Hare, is in hot pursuit of the crook who stole her con man.

The trail leads to Belgium, France, and Italy and pits Nick and Kate against their deadliest adversary yet: Dragan Kovic, an ex-Serbian military officer. He's plotting a crime that will net him billions...and cost thousands of American lives.

Nick and Kate have to mount the most daring, risky, and audacious con they've ever attempted to save a major US city from a catastrophe of epic proportions. Luckily they have the help of an eccentric out-of-work actor; a bandit who does his best work in the sewers; and Kate's dad, Jake. The pressure's on for Nick and Kate to make this work - even if they have to lay their lives on the line.

Great addition to my Fox & O'Hare library!

Evanovich and Goldberg have another winner! Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare are at it again, this time in Europe. FBI agent Kate O'Hare and her ex-military special forces soldier dad Jake get lots of father-daughter bonding time using explosives and big guns. Jake's addition to the crew a couple of novels back pays off again. The rest of the crew from California are also in on the con. Nick Fox remains the ultimate con man while running a con against a really evil Serbian con man and killer.

I love this series. It is great fun. Having Scott Brick narrate these wonderful novels adds to the enjoyment.

Fast, Funny, and Sexxxy

This is one of my favorite in the series. The plot is fast paced. It doesn't have the overly complicated scams of the previous books, well, it's a complicated scenario but more interesting. The double and triple crossing was great. The characters, once again, are highly entertaining. This one had one scene with the secondary characters that made me laugh out loud. Plus, there's some bonus steamy scenes that add to the whole caper. I'd recommend it to fans of the series and new comers.

Fox and O'Hare Do it Again

Where does The Pursuit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I go through a lot of audiobooks. A lot. I work a desk job that is fairly monotonous and if I didn't have books to listen to, my brain would melt. That said, of all the books I've listened to within the past few months (~20) I remember the details of this one much more than others. And I would listen to it again, which I don't do often.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the relationship between the protags. I love a good back and forth, when-will-they story and this series (and this book) has just the right balance of tug-o-war, humor, and suspense. It's an updated version of your classic caper and I have always loved a good caper.

There is a difference between funny and SILLY

I guess there is a huge following of not very sophisticated readers who have the ability to create the appearance of a really successful series. True - it is very successful for followers who like shallow parodies that are silly instead of funny. There is no ability to engage or care, no suspense, no romance, no character depth. This is a heads up to intelligent readers.

Getting a little stale but still a fun series

Evanovich fans get pretty much what we expect. The story line in this one is good, fun suspense elements in an "okay, how are they going to pull this off" vein.

Is it just me, or is Scott Brick the absolute worst of they "big name" narrators? He always sounds like he's either bored or half asleep. At least his Fench pronunciations are accurate.
