Publisher's summary

Behind the men who shaped history are the heroes who forever changed it. In The Prophet, the fourth book in the Sons of Encouragement series, beloved author Francine Rivers illuminates the life of Amos. Francine examines the life of Amos and his relationship to Israel during its prosperous years. Amos' message and his relationship with God made him unpopular. But his challenge to those who were enjoying the blessings of prosperity was crucial then and is strikingly timely today as well.

Amos

Truly enjoyed listening to this. Sometimes all the history of kings and times of Israel and Judah confuse me. This story opened my eyes to this brave prophet.

Love the Novel

Hard to put down and extremely authentic

I will be able to connect this retelling to the
Biblical record of two of the prophets.

Prequel To "Redeeming Love"

Adam Gerber's tenderness as the Voice of YHWH speaking to and through HIS servant Amos was a joy to listen to.

The story of Amos, from poignant, very meaning filled days and nights as a Shepherd, to Amos' learned heart for IsraEl and Judah is intense yet inspiring. His interaction with Hosea deeply revealing. It could be called a prequel to Francine's story "Redeeming Love".

The Prophet

What made the experience of listening to The Prophet the most enjoyable?

His overall press for what was right before GOD.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prophet?

After 'knowing' what do, his total abandonment to do GOD's total will.

Which character – as performed by Adam Verner – was your favorite?

Amos.

If you could rename The Prophet, what would you call it?

I would not rename it.

Any additional comments?

Amos' moment and voice throughout that time was as large and penetrable as Isaiah. Loved the book.

Great story

Francine Rivers is such a great writer, I love how she is able to bring characters of the Bible to life and show us how similar to use they are. She encourages to read the Bible and read the stories she writes about. I highly recommend her books.

Brings an obscure prophet to life.

Well read other than the pronunciation of some Biblical names. I feel like I have found a window into Amos’s world. Interesting and I believe Biblically sound. Worth a listen.

Well done!

This dramatization of this Bible story allowed me to get to know Amos well and sympathize with his plight. It was well written and well presented.

Three is not a charm!

I was determined to like this series. I mentioned in book 2 how repetitive the book was. Book 3 no better this one just keeps repeating and repeating. And the book covers 10years! Yikes! I give up. I'm starting "call the midwife"
