Forbidden fruit always tastes that much sweeter....

He was mean.

Cold.

Beautiful.

But somehow charming to everyone else.

With Phoebe, his student? He was bitter and hard.

Until...

He was harder. Colder. Meaner.

And she had no choice but to take everything he had to give.

A desperate act, Phoebe's tumble from grace, and a man waiting in the wings to watch her downfall.

The Professor is no hero. No charming knight. He’s a predator stalking his prey, and Phoebe, a college student struggling to get by, just walked into his crosshairs because even monsters have needs....

A stand-alone bully romance.

May offend or upset sensitive listeners. Contains scenes with stalking.

Pure Gold

This book is one of my favorite reads ever and I was super excited to buy the audiobook as soon as it was released.

I always had a soft spot for forbidden romance and I have been devouring a ridiculous amount of dark bully romance books too. A mix of both is a winner in my book! Especially when it's written in the way this book is.

The Professor takes a different angle on the popular 'Bully' romance genre with the Professor doing the bullying. BUT... While Nicholas is definitely not portrayed as a nice man, the author manages to alternate crueler parts with a POV that gives us more insight in his personality. Darkness and raw emotions are intertwined with vulnerability and protectiveness and God, do I LOVE the multiple layers of his character! He is complicated, struggling, but has this soft side too.

FMC Phoebe is everything I expect in a female main character coming from the imagination of this author. She is a fighter, strong, caring,... the way Phoebe struggles to balance studying with working 2 jobs and the care of her little baby brother Scottie (Oh boy, I LOVE Scottie, that little boy made my heart sing) is admirable. As a mom, I can totally relate to Phoebe's dedication towards him, the lengths she went through to make sure no harm comes to him.

The story of Nicholas, Phoebe and Scottie speaks to me and Serena Akeroyd managed to give them an ending they deserve.

This book was like chocolate for me. Addictive, dark, a little forbidden, rich, eliciting a moan when taking that first bite. Because yes... It did! That the narrator's managed to capture the dynamic between both characters and their warm voices, really lifted my listening experience to a whole other level.

I loved it!

I don't know how Audible knows this, but somehow they have picked up on my perverse interest in stalker romances. I love them, because I think that the idea that a man cares for a woman so much that he has to keep her safe even without her knowing is more romantic than most cliches we're assaulted with in the typical romance novels. And what can I say about this book? There really wasn't anything I could critique, anything I didn't like about it! The writing was superb, the plot kept me listening the entire way through in one sitting, and the characters were interesting while developing at an excellent rate. Nicholas' self-awareness was an unexpected but welcome revelation, and I was glad he was able to amend his behavior and stop being so verbally hard on Pheobe. I usually don't like stories with kids in them or with women taking care of them, but the author did it in a way that I didn't mind and even enjoyed because it was a fresh take on a young woman caring for a child. An absolutely excellent book I'd recommend to anyone that loves dark romance.

absolutely loved the bully in the Professor

I really enjoyed this audiobook it didn't let me down! Having already read the book I enjoyed listening to it as a refresher. The Professor is more of a savior in my eyes than a bully. Nicholas in his own way was always there for Phoebe and helped her self confidence. the narrator's were perfect for this book too. Serena Akeroyd you can be very proud of this book.

INTENSE

My 1st thought after listening to this was Twisted, Dark and Romantic. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a phenomenal job narrating and getting the full emotion of the scenes. The story line was not what I was expecting....it was so much more. I was hooked and didn't want to stop listening. The pull, the need, the connection between Nicholas and Phoebe was so intense and full of love you felt it deep in your bones.

Fantastic!

This is a fantastic and HOT book! I loved every minute of this non traditional love story. The characters are sexy as sin and the narrators of the audiobook did an amazing job bringing them to life. I would definitely recommend this book and audiobook!

Twisted but beautiful

Serena really did it. This story was equal parts heart breaking and sad. Real and ugly while being soft and sweet. she struggled but had a net to stop her from falling. There were cruel times but Intimate times that made it better. Like being smack on the bottom and then having the spot rubbed. I cried and smiled so hard my face hurt. Amazing ready and if you love dark romance but not as dark as some then this book is it for you. Don't miss out on a few hours of entertainment.

A good story

This was an interesting story. I think it would have been better if it had delved a little deeper into the professor’s history more, but still a good read.

Such a good book! 🖤

I loved this audiobook! I've read The Professor before and loved it...Wen and Kai's voices took it to a whole other level 🔥!

Nicholas was such a jerk to her but then he would do things that were sweet. But for some odd reason, him being a jerk wasn't a bad thing sometimes. Makes you understand why Phoebe kept coming back for more.

Phoebe was just trying to keep it together for just a few more months. Between her mother and her brother, she really couldn't catch a break. I felt so bad for her when Nicholas would be mean. You just want to come through the book and deck him. Loved it when he started to make things up to her.

This was such a good book for me! 🖤

favorite romance book

This is my favorite book by Serena Akeroyd! I love the dynamic between Nicholas and Phoebe. And that she takes care of her little brother warmed my heart. I could really feel that she loved him. I cried a lot while listening to this story because there were so many sad things happening but in the end it made me feel good!
The narrators are great together and I just love Wen Ross' voice!

WoW 😍😍😍

WoW! Romance done perfectly!

This wasn’t on Prince Charming on a white horse and started really unconventional buuuuuuut… wow!
I enjoyed this even though there were a few things I didn’t care for, obviously here not enough to bring down my rate…

The BEST thing was it was more the guy’s POV and she wasn’t too too dumb like some of the heroines in other stories nor did she try to create a conflict where there wasn’t any. I just really enjoyed this book,

I’m trying not to say what it is about, best to go in blind… you’ll thank me…

Things I didn’t care for:
It had the age gap thing (I hate super young girl and older man) but it was done tastefully here and not constantly referred to…
The reminder on how he was when they met…

Male and female voices

I wish that they could have the male voice for the male character and female voice for the female character as it makes it better and nicer to listen to.

Amazing

I have read this a couple of times on my Kindle, but this was my very first audiobook and it was a fab choice. Listening to this in audio made the story much more real and I felt like i was in story. The story itself has many dark elements, so it's not for the faint-hearted. In real life Nicholas is a complete stalker, but here we get to understand why he is the way he is and it works for them.
