Publisher's summary

The Professor presses his palm against her flank, the warmth of her blood, hotter than her skin. Hot, like the life force that he has claimed. The power over life and death is the ultimate thrill.

Someone is murdering women on college campuses. Agent Mick O'Shaughnessy's mission is simple: stop the killer. Following every lead, he meets Meg, the faculty advisor for one of the victims, who can help him track the killer through her campus connections.

Meg Connelly is focused on getting her master's degree to show her estranged family she doesn't need anybody's help to succeed. There's something about Mick she can't resist, but the last time she let someone get close to her, it cost her everything.

As the investigation heats up, so does their relationship. But Mick's interest in Meg doesn't just endanger her heart—it puts her in the sights of the killer.

Once he gets her alone, he can take all the time he needs....

Great new author!

Where does The Professor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very good mystery.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Southern mystery...

Any additional comments?

I think Ms. Perkins will continue to intrigue readers. Excited for the next book!

Disappointing

What disappointed you about The Professor?

While the story line was good, the author did not do a good job with the story ending. To me she left a lot unsaid, no real conclusion to some of the thing that happened

What do you think your next listen will be?

no sure

Would you be willing to try another one of Dina Pearlman’s performances?

maybe

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment

Any additional comments?

I like books that have a good balance of both suspense and romance, this book did not really concentrate on the romance much, just a lot of insecurity from the heroin (she was week) and begging from the hero (he was not alpha enough).

Terrific debut

Ms Perkins created an engaging story that keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. The murderer is smart and creepy...a great villian to counter the hero cop. Mick is the perfect alpha male, tempered by intelligence, patience and understanding. Meg is driven to succeed, but has learned to hide her vulnerability behind a mask of polite detachment.
These two characters not only complement each other, they create enough sensual tension to ignite the pages. I screamed warnings, cheered for, and sighed with relief as Meg and Mick struggled to overcome and survive every obstacle thrown at them.
In summary, "The Professor" really pulls you in. I thoroughly enjoyed! If you like novels by Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, and Sandra Brown, you will undoubtedly enjoy The Professor, too.

The professor has a member...

Would you try another book from Cathy Perkins and/or Dina Pearlman?

No, I don't think so. Dina Pearlman is a good reader and I would try something she's narrating by another author.

Would you ever listen to anything by Cathy Perkins again?

Probably not.

What does Dina Pearlman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a clear, nuanced voice that conveys emotional range.

What character would you cut from The Professor?

The professor's member! I am not a prude but this little character had an enormous role. The author has lovingly described all of his throbbing, trembling, tumescence, his turgid tumidity and his tingling thumps of titillation.

Any additional comments?

At points, this narrative simply became ludicrous and I almost enjoyed its crazy predictability and cliches. But it's too juvenile to please a quasi-serious listener.

400+ Audiobooks And This is One I Really Enjoyed!

Would you listen to The Professor again? Why?

Yes. Although a work of fiction, I am familiar with the areas of South Carolina referenced by the author. The characters feel authentic. The author's use of such intense graphic detail draws the reader into the story. Mick and Meg are likeable characters. Seeing their relationship's ups and downs carried the book. So, in spite of the rapes and murders, their relationship left me feeling happy and content about the audiobook.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Professor?

I enjoyed the "pool party" at the beginning of the book. Being under the category, "Romance/Suspense," I wanted to see the SAE fraternity boy and his young GF consummate their romance in the wading pool.

What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?

She was ok. However, with the exception of Frank Muller and a few other excellent narrators, I enjoy the authors reading their own books

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Professor draws you into the South not unlike Pat Conroy ,John Grisham or James Dickey.

Any additional comments?

I hope audible adds another one of this author's books to the audible library. Some of my favorite authors are John Grisham, Elmore Leonard, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Ken Follett, and others. Currently, my favorite audiobook is "Tishomingo Blues". For a while, I really enjoyed listening to "A Confederacy of Dunces." "The Old Man and The Sea" and "Great Expectations" are books I've enjoyed since HS. Full disclosure requires me to let you know I worked with Cathy over two decades ago. She is extremely intelligent, kind, and always exhibited a relentless pursuit of perfection. I like Cathy and thus this is the first book I've reviewed on Audible. I hope to write more reviews in the coming months. Audible audiobooks are one of my greatest delights.
