Publisher's summary

From best-selling author Talia Hibbert comes a story of wicked royals, fake engagements, and the fed-up office worker trapped in the midst of it all.

Cherry Neita is 30, flirty, and done with men. As far as she can tell, they're overrated, overpaid, and underperforming - in every area of life. But a girl has needs, and the smoking-hot stranger she just met at the office seems like the perfect one-night stand....

Prince Ruben of Helgmøre is reckless, dominant, and famously filthy. The outcast royal is rebuilding his reputation - all for a good cause - but he can't resist a pretty face. And bossy whirlwind Cherry's got the face, the body, and the attitude to make Ruben's convictions crumble. Even better, when she propositions him, she has no idea who he really is.

But when paparazzi catch the pair, erm, kissing in an alleyway, Ruben's anonymity disappears faster than Cherry's knickers. Now, the press is in uproar, the palace is outraged, and Ruben's reputation is back in the gutter. There's only one way to turn this disaster around - and it involves Cherry, some big fat lies, and a flashy diamond ring. On her left hand.

Unfortunately, Cherry isn't pleased with Ruben's "fake engagement" scheme...and neither is the king.

Contains mature themes.

I adore Talia Hibbert

Talia Hibbert writes the most charming books. This is one of my favorites and I wanted to re-read it in audio. Cherry is such a punk, and I adore her for it. She gets stuck in a really weird situation thanks to this hot dude who turns out to be a Danish-ish prince and surprise! The royal family is rife with dirty little secrets. Cherry gets allll the skeletons out of the closet and it's glorious. Throw in tons of bi rep, diversity, tropes upon tropes, and banter and you're all set. The audio performance is pretty great, he has a nice voice and a lovely British accent. My only tiny complaint is that the narrator's accent for Ruben varies a lot through the book.
I'm pasting Talia Hibbert's own CW here since it does not show up on audible:
"Warning: this book is 70,000+ words of extreme pleasure and intense romance, ending in a HEA. NO cliffhangers and NO cheating. Enjoy responsibly! Please be aware: this story contains scenes of abuse that could potentially trigger certain audiences."

Okay...

Though we'll written, this was kind of disappointing. They know each other for one day, ONE day when the prince declares she is his fiancé to make his family happy and get the press off their back. Only she didn't even know he was a prince and now hates him. But she goes ahead and quits her job to move to another country and pretend to he his fiancé for a year. O..k...

Amazing book, good narrator, bad accents

LOVE the book! The characters have depth, the story is very interesting, emotional and sexy!
I mostly liked the narrator. I don't totally agree with the choice of a male narrator, but he is very good. He can bring the appropriate emotions in every scene, gives the book the necessary rhythm and allows you to differentiate the "voices". My main issue was with his accents, which are very important in this book, since the majority of the characters are from outside the UK. The Scandinavian accents sound surprisingly Italian... specially the grandmother's voice, that came out messed up!
Even with that, I would definitely recommend this audiobook.

The horrible fake Russian-esq accent was horrid

It’s a adult book, lets be honest it’s really all about the steamy scenes, so you get what you get as far as storyline and plot go. Which honestly speaking wasn’t bad. But the narration was Comically AWFUL. The horrid accent made the main male character sound like a 60+ year old Russian uncle. And not like the hip, cool, uncle, but the corny, bad dad joke uncle.

It was a good read

I enjoyed reading the book but what I didn’t like was that on the cover of the book you see a big black woman, but it is slightly mentioned that she has brown or black skin. Or that she is a big woman. Also not mentioned is the race discrimination when meeting the “royal” family and the snide remarks that she lets pass by because she “doesn’t understand the language” but her fiancé understands and doesn’t say anything or come to her defense about it????

I enjoyed the book but it could have been a hell of a lot better had they added to it.

Also I noticed a previous review that the main character sounds like an old man and unfortunately to say, that person was right! I was very disappointed to hear that. If the character was supposed to be an older gentleman then OK, I can go with that. But again it’s not mentioned that he is older.

The sex scenes are steamy, but I wish they would sort through their emotions a bit better when they have disagreements.

Fun fast paced sexy romp

The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert
Narrated by Cornell Collins

Passion is real from the start but history and panic lead to a false engagement. They have to wade through the falsehoods to find their happy ever after.

There is sex and scandal and comedy and a bit of child abuse which may not sit well with some but I do feel it was important in the telling of the story. Also the dominance was a bit off putting and it took away from the otherwise great sex scenes. Not my cup of tea but I understand that some like that sort of thing, but not me.

Having said that, I enjoyed the overall story, the characters were well written and I rooted for Cherry and Ruben and their side kicks Demi and Hans. I do wish that Whiskey cat was more prominent though.

The only real hang up I had was the narrators “Danish” accent that sounded more Russian than anything else. I had to keep reminding myself “it’s supposed to be Danish.” However the British accents were very good.

All in all another treat from Talia Hibbert who has the best most charismatic female leads.

Just a Dirty British Romance

I went into this story knowing that it would not be as thoughtful as the Brown Sisters so my expectations were appropriate. It was a sweet little smutty romance with the emotional connection that I require to fully indulge. The ending wrapped up a little too quickly I think, but that's okay for the "happily ever after" trope.

This should have been narrated by a black woman at the very least, but ideally dually narrated. The 'accent' was extremely distracting. Instead of it pulling me further into the story, it continuously threw me back out. It was especially annoying during the sex scenes because it was such a turn-off. I'm sure if I just read this myself, I would have enjoyed it more.

Steamy HEA Story

This is the cutest love story with steamy love scenes. The cliffhangers are amazing. Cornell Collins is a wonderful narrator. I love that the leading woman is a BBW like me. Thanks Talia Hibbert!

Dirty, mouthy, and yet touching and sweet

I’m not one for romances involving famous folks, be they actors, rockstars, or royals. But, on the strength of Talia Hibbert, I gave this a shot and quite liked it. I love the way Ms. Hibbert weaves in families, diversity, and genuine-feeling people. Cherry is a bodacious bombshell and Ruben a deliciously dirty, growly bad-boy prince. Like all of her books, there’s plenty of sass and fun, but also just enough conflict to make the HEA heartfelt.

Narrator Collins is pretty good, although I agree that his accents were inconsistent and Ruben starts off sounding like a scrawny old man. The voicing settles in after the first hour or so and I found the male narration matched the mouthy, naughty nooky. And, hoo! The nooky is indeed naughty, with consensual bdsm and anything but missionary scenarios.

There are mild storylines of domestic violence and child abuse that could be triggering. However, if you can handle the F-bombs and sizzle that gives this series the “dirty” in its Dirty British Romance label, you should be just fine with all the adult themes.
