I recommend this audio version to my class. It’s much more engaging for them than reading the old-fashioned text. The Art of War gets very detailed about formations. It’s a fantastic academic resource, though it requires a bit of mental stamina to get through in one go.

If you are looking for a story, this isn't it. But if you want a detailed breakdown of how to organize an army and manage a populace, this is the definitive version. The narrator does his best with the technical lists, but it’s definitely for the serious student.
