Publisher's summary

Created in the Emperor's own image, the primarchs had long thought themselves to be princes of the universe and masters of their own destiny - they led the Space Marine Legions in glorious conquest of the galaxy, and no enemy of the Imperium could stand against them. However, even amongst this legendary brotherhood, the seeds of dissent had been sown long before the treacherous Warmaster Horus declared his grand heresy.

Find out the deepest mysteries of the primarchs. Who is in control of Fulgrim's body - him, or a daemon? What happens when the Alpha Legion fights against itself? Just what secrets is the Lion keeping? And what could the tragic Ferrus Manus have done to prevent himself from becoming a head shorter?

man it's always the alpha legion.

The damn Alpha legion shows up again, be ready for shenanigans a plenty. but there are plenty of better legions to hear about to in the book as well. nobody likes you alpharius.

Meh

I like these short novellas since they get the point across and can serve as smaller stepping stones, and answer certain questions. The Fulgrim story was one that answers a question I had since the original Fulgrim book, but I guess I just didn't like how it handled it. The final story was kicks ass.

Great voice, too many names.

A good story that is hard to follow as the amount of proper Nouns make it confusing at times.

Great listen!

Great onsite into the minds of the primarchs. Learned a lot about how they all were, and what made them different.

Sean Barrett Steals the Show

WOW, WOW, WOW!! I’m already a fan of anthologies, and I’d read The Serpent Beneath on my own, but Sean Barrett’s narration is simply and without exaggeration, THE FINEST, most spine tingling reading I have ever experienced in an audiobook!!

I’m off to pick up The Name of the Rose, simply because he’s the Narrator… EXCELLENT, excellent work!!

Hydra Dominatus

Loved the stories. They were rich with lots of lore on the worlds of 40k. The four star rating on performance is because I wished the sections were better annotated.

3 Misses, 1 Big Hit

3 of the 4 stories I found underwhelming. But the Alpha Legion story redeemed the book :)

Only one story didn't land

As usual, most of these stories are pretty good, I have to say that the Fulgrim story was really bad. I gave the story a chance but I have to say a lot of it just didn't make sense. There was so much build up about Fulgrim being taken by the daemon in the previous novel, No spoilers but I would of preferred Lucious was correct.

The final story sheds a lot of light on the Alpha legions motivations and holds some big implications for the overall story

Some of the stories are really engrossing, while others are dull and dont contribute much to the overall lore. overall 4 stars

4 novellas in one

First story: is Fulgrim Fulgrim?
Second story: Ferrus Manus gets a chance to see the future and is a quintessential Iron Hand about it.
Third story: The Lion believes he can solve every problem himself.
Fourth Story: Alpha Legion being Alpha Legion.
