The Real Guide to Better Sleep Habits

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommened this audiobook because it is a truly practical guide that can help you change the way you sleep in just a couple of hours.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the explanantions were practical and things one can easily do without too much fuss. I have been able to get better sleep simply by changing the type of music I listen to in bed, getting rid of tablets and other sources of blue light and getting an e-Book reader with e-ink instead.

This audiobook also liked up to its title and was concise in its instructions and explanantions. It is also short enough to run through during a trip or a daily commute. The narrator was also very clear and easy to listen to even if you put the speed at 1.5X which I'll admit I do at times when I want to get through a chapter quickly.

Any additional comments?

As the name implies, this is one of the best books I’ve read about insomnia. Rarely have I seen a book take the time to go through each and every aspect of insomnia like the author did and I learnt a lot. Did you even know that sleeping on your side helps you to avoid neurological issues, back pain and snoring? I also now know that lying on my stomach is the reason why I wake up feeling uncomfortable sometimes. It’s nice to finally know why instead of thinking I just woke up on the ‘wrong side of the bed’.

I also learnt how to improve my sleeping hygiene. Thick socks before bed, lighter ones just before I go to sleep. Heated sheets should be turned off before sleeping to avoid issues. I will also pay more attention to the fabric my pajamas are made of when next I’m buying one. Another thing I will consider from the book is using wake-up sunlight alarm clocks instead of the regular noisy ones.

A new thing that I learnt is how to relax right before going to be. One of the relaxation techniques that I found out about is yoga (which I tried for a while and got too busy to try, definitely giving it another shot), I think I didn’t find a comfortable pose for myself and thanks to the book, I have more options now and know how to find the most soothing. Guided meditation is also something I will also give a shot it is also easy to do and can help me relax without referring to medication.

I have been using these methods for a week now and I hope to see even more improvements in my sleeping habits.

Surprised

I hate to sound so cynical but I bought this book with almost a negative attitude - I thought I had tried everything and I really didn't think anything could help me.

How wrong I was. The tips I learnt have lead me getting about 6 or 7 hours sleep almost every night which is a HUGE improvement for me, really.

Insomniac

Insomniac most of my life and I am now sleeping at least an extra 3 hours per night after going thru this book twice, therefore I am very happy. An extra 3 hours, for me anyway, is HUGE.

An Fantastic Guide for Insomniacs

As a chronic insomniac, I always try different ways to help me sleep as well as fall asleep. And this book came as a great surprise to me. I've read a number of similar books but this one was exceptional. I loved the flow, the jokes in-between as well as author's real-life examples. It all made the book compelling to read!
The boom is fantastic for insomniacs as well as for those those who want to know more about it. Enjoy it and get rid of insomnia forever!

Sleeping better

I would say I have abut a 50% increase in sleep, so not an overall cure but 50% more is still damn good, for me anyway

Finally getting a full nights sleep!

Any additional comments?

I have struggled on and off with sleep issues for years. Most of the books I have got on this subject are just a total mess - always either too simple or too medical. This was different. A concise and easy to follow format which has resulted in me finally getting a proper nights sleep almost every night now

More sleep!

Sleep is so so important yet it is something many of us don’t get enough of and don’t even try to make better. I personally found my insomnia getting worse as i got older (and by default more worries and things to think about). Followed all the tips in this book and i would say 75% of them work. Most importantly my sleep is so much better now, leaving me feeling more relaxed and refreshed in the morning. Good value for money, very cheap price when you consider how much great advice it contains.

Same information I've heard elsewhere

If you've already done a lot of research on sleep, don't bother reading this as well. It's a great intro to curing your sleep problems, but as someone who's struggled their entire life and done a lot of research, I didn't get anything new out of this book. It is well written though and a great place for anyone to start.

Silly and trivial

Get another title, you already know this stuff.

The narration is grade school, sounding like a mom at a tea party. I can’t believe they package everyday knowledge and sell it. Geez!
