“The President’s Protection” follows two rookie Secret Service Agents who find themselves in the President’s limousine (the Beast) transported back to April 15, 1789 and escorting President-elect George Washington from Mt. Vernon to New York City for his Inauguration. While protecting the President-elect on his journey, Agent Emily Harper and Jimmy Gardner form a bond with Washington and explore how his actions as President have affected the World. They also address technology, politics, global affairs and racism as it relates to the differences between the 18th and 21st Centuries. From the Chapter “Spurrier’s Tavern” Jimmy and Emily were sitting at a picnic table outside the restaurant normally used by the workers, digesting their dinner and watching the sunset. “What are you doing with her, boy?” they heard from behind them. First looking at each other, and then spinning in opposite directions, they came face to stinky face with the three men from behind the trees, earlier. Jimmy stood and looked down at them. Emily also rose and said “Move on, just move on, and oh, by the way, take a bath.” It was almost like a cartoon, where you could see steam coming out of their ears as all three charged at one time. Before they moved a foot, Emily simultaneously put her hand up to tell Jimmy to stay back and grabbed her ASP from under her skirt. Expanding it with one motion, she took one step left and hit the ugly one on the left kneecap, taking his legs completely out from under him. Before he hit the ground, she had moved behind the other two and struck the second assailant in the back of the right knee, spun, and smacked the third in the back of the left knee. All three men were on the ground. Emily replaced the ASP in its holder and Jimmy stood over them, saying, “Wanna move on now?” Colonel Humphries and General Washington, standing in the doorway of the lounge and ignoring the men writhing on the ground in pain, “Mr. Gardner and Miss Harper, would you like to have that drink now?” said the Colonel.

The story is compelling . There are so many elements that are very surprising as well as interesting .
I am desperately waiting for the next audio books to be available in this amazing series . (I know it is available in print already )
It is a serious , historically interesting and powerful on many levels . Get it !!
