Publisher's Summary

From British Fantasy Award-winning author Jen Williams comes the electrifying conclusion to the Winnowing Flame trilogy. Exhilarating epic fantasy for fans of Robin Hobb.

All is chaos. All is confusion. The Jure'lia are weak, but the war is far from over.

Ebora was once a glorious city, defended by legendary warriors and celebrated in song. Now refugees from every corner of Sarn seek shelter within its crumbling walls, and the enemy that has poisoned their land won't lie dormant for long.

The deep-rooted connection that Tormalin, Noon and the scholar Vintage share with their Eboran war-beasts has kept them alive so far. But with Tor distracted, and his sister Hestillion hell-bent on bringing ruthless order to the next Jure'lia attack, the people of Sarn need all the help they can get.

Noon is no stranger to playing with fire and knows just where to recruit a new - and powerful - army. But even she underestimates the epic quest that is to come. It is a journey wrought with pain and sacrifice - a reckoning that will change the face of Sarn forever.

Join forces with the heroes of the Winnowing Flame Trilogy as they strive to silence the Jure'lia's poison song once and for all.

Sad that it’s over

Really enjoyed this series and Jen Williams is now an author on my instant buy list. The series is hard to place into a category, to me it’s Grimdark/Fantasy/Sci Fi all rolled into one. I became attached to the characters, cried and laughed with them and I shall miss them. The narrator Jot Davies was excellent

Not a fan of the narrator

I really enjoyed the story but for me it was really spoiled by the narration. What's with giving all the non human characters loud growling voices? I found it really set my teeth on edge and given the amount of dialog the beasts and the Queen get in this book it has made it difficult and unpleasant to listen to.

Weird but brilliant.

I read “The Ninth Rain” on the recommendation of my grandson and found it really weird at the start. But I soon found myself fully engrossed. In far too short a time, I’d finished the whole trilogy. What an imagination and attention to detail! I shall read more of this author’s work. One minor comment on the reader: with a few exceptions, it wasn’t always obvious who was speaking. Also he often failed to pause when the location of the action switched within a chapter. Still, an excellent listen!

A brilliant end to a series that pulls no punches

Jot Davies as ever did an amazing narration. Although with a book with such amazing female protagonists you'd think a Male narrator is not suited but Jot does it Justice. Jen Williams is becoming one of my favourite authors. If you lived The Demon Cycle series by Peter V Brett you'd like this one. Brutal, brilliant and devastating but beautiful and empowering.

Fantastic finale to a fantastic trilogy.

Really enjoyed the world, magic, characters and action in this book, as well as the series as a whole. What a fantastic ending indeed. Poignant and satisfying both.

Jen kills it again. Brilliant end to a brilliant trilogy

I think Jen Williams is one of the finest fantasy authors writing today. I read and listen to a lot of fantasy books, and hers are head and shoulders above most others. But what she does is also different to what the other great fantasy writers are doing, in a way that’s really important and refreshing. Her character development is up there with anyone else; but it’s the way she builds a fun, diverse range of characters in all her books, with genuine warmth and colour. It’s fantastic, and sets her apart as one of my very favourite authors. This book is packed with wisdom and humour, as much as it is darkness and adventure. And a really great plot. It’s got it all. The narrator does a bloody brilliant job too. I really do just forget that all the voices are him. Wonderful performance.
