Publisher's summary

Fraud. Blackmail. Murder. It's all in a day's work for Eddie Flynn.

For years, major New York law firm Harland & Sinton has operated a massive global fraud. The FBI are on to them, but they need witnesses to secure their case.

When a major client of the firm, David Child, is arrested for murder, the FBI ask con artist turned lawyer Eddie Flynn to secure Child as his client and force him to testify against the firm. Eddie's not a man to be forced into representing a guilty client, but the FBI have incriminating files on Eddie's wife, Christine, and if Eddie won't play ball, she'll pay the price.

When Eddie meets David Child, he knows Child is innocent despite the overwhelming evidence against him. With the FBI putting pressure on him to secure the plea, Eddie must find a way to prove Child's innocence while keeping his wife out of danger - not just from the FBI but from the firm itself.

At the edge of my seat

I’m really enjoying this series. The ‘hiding the gun’ in this story was *chef’s kiss* and I actually managed to get a pretty solid theory from the beginning. I was so elated to be right I actually called out: “I told you so” (and scared my cat in the process). What I really love about these books-aside from the characters- is the way the story builds up and in the end everything comes together. This was no exception

Brilliant

Having listened to 13 and absolutely loving it, I then bought all the other books in Steve Cavanagh's Eddie Flynn series. The writing is superb throughout every book. The plots are unique, cleverly constructed and tightly woven. It is a relief that Mr Cavanagh has chosen a good path, because with his genius mind and inspired ideas, he would make an excellent con artist! Where the ideas come from, I have no clue, but each concept is highly original and eloquently executed. 11 hours and 40 minutes of totally compelling and absorbing listening. My poor dogs are exhausted, as I simply couldn't contemplate stopping listening, so continued to walk them around and around the park until the story was finished. I've got the next book, The Liar, in my library, but may have to resist the temptation to listen to it straight away and keep it for a special treat, or until I know when the next Eddie Flynn book is being released. I must commend Adam Sims for his superb narration, bringing Eddie and the other characters to life. Although I missed Judge Harry's input, this is no way detracted from another awesome and absorbing audio book.
