Rejecting the futile obsession with dedicating our life to a single career by “following our passion,” The Placeholder proposes three perspectives to try out for this highly experimental period in our career in order to create meaningful work. Through the Placeholder experience, we observe and discover what truly matters to us like an anthropologist, we become open to ideating boundless possibilities like a creative designer, and we come to experiment with ideas like a mad scientist. Through these actions in The Placeholder, we craft, develop, shape, define, and create our Noble Work, the career that is deeply meaningful to us.
The Placeholder is not only a thought exercise, but a sandbox we get to play in with practical tools. As we get our hands dirty, we will not only create a meaningful career we envision but cultivate the ultimate capacity to reinvent ourselves without difficulty toward the good life of congruence and fulfillment.
