Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Abducted! Forcibly taken from her home in New Orleans , Cristabel Albay found herself a prisoner aboard an enemy ship—and soon thereafter, transferred into the vile hands of blood-thirsty pirates! War waged between the newly liberated United States and King George. Still, Cristabel would soon discover that British sailors were the very least of her worries—for the pirate captain, Bully Booth, owned no loyalty—no sympathy for those he captured. Yet hope was not entirely lost—for where there was found one crew of pirates—there was ever found another. Though Cristabel Albay would never have dreamed that she may find fortune in being captured by one pirate captain only to be taken by another—she did! Bully Booth took no man alive—let no woman live long. But the pirate Navarrone was known for his clemency. Thus, Cristabel’s hope in knowing her life’s continuance was restored. Nonetheless, as Cristabel’s heart began to yearn for the affections of her handsome, beguiling captor—she wondered if Captain Navarrone had only saved her life to execute her poor heart! I am glad I read the reviews. I agreed with what I have read. The virtual voice does not have a personality and the book really need it. So I am glad I speeded up the voice.
I really liked the Main MC. But when it came to the MFC, I had mixed reviews. There were a few times I wanted to reach in the book and help the Main FC out. It seem like she keep repeating herself. I hate it sometimes when a MFC seems to be a little out of touch like she doesn't have any common sense. It was like the MFC keeps saying poor pitiful me. You know like a pity party. I would like for the MFC to have a little bit more gumption.
This is why I rated the book a 4 between the virtual voice and the MFC.

At first, it was really hard for me to listen to this. Not a big fan of virtual voice. It was too slow but once I spread it up (1.2),I was able to complete it. It was a cute story.

Just speed it up

This is a very good story line that is fun, cute, and entertaining. The author can describe passion without getting trashy. I like that the female character in this story had a backbone. She was a little too emotional for me to relate to, but I some women are like that. I would and have already recommended to friends.

Very entertaining and nice virtual voice.

Read for book club. The story was sweet and I enjoyed the ending. Disappointed in the use of “virtual voice”. Not only is it a slap in the face to human narrators, but it makes the story incredibly one note. There is no distinction between characters and no expression when reading so it became boring. Also, it’s lazy. I much prefer the talent of a real narrator over the greed of using AI to cut costs. Mostly, I was incredibly irritated about the use of AI.

Not the AI voice
