When the wealthy and enigmatic art collector Harold Klimt moves into the long dilapidated house known as the Upshaw Mansion, most don’t think twice about it. But when Mr. Klimt begins to throw lavish parties for the town’s elite, Colin Thorne - a young, aspiring artist still grieving over the recent death of his childhood friend - sneaks inside the house to explore, suspicious something's wrong. Story
A thousand years ago, something evil made a bold attempt to cross into this world. Now it's ready to try again. She's eternally young, lovely, and lethal. Her cry for help is heard by a teenage boy in Bermuda. A confused orphan in Montreal. A political prisoner in Poland. A raging paraplegic on the Pacific coast. And a bloodthirsty psychopath in New York City. Each of them is lost, confused, alone. Too weak to resist her siren call. They come cutting a path of carnage across the globe. And at last they meet. In a lonely mountain mansion. A place of unutterable evil

Story
A mysterious house sits on a corner block on a hill in St. John's, Newfoundland, in one of the oldest cities in North America, a nondescript, three-story wooden cube, going slowly to seed. When local cops, John Green, Janis Lodge and Todd Wiggins are sent to investigate a multiple murder on the top floor of the property, they start opening doors and uncovering secrets. But like peeling the layers off an onion, each door opened only leads them deeper into the mystery. There are houses like this all over the world, and those who suffer are drawn to them, as John, Janis and Todd have been drawn. They have found their way in. Can they find their way out again? And at what cost?

Publisher's Summary
It's a nice house on a country road. Jack and Erika Harris expect to be happy there. It doesn't matter that they're living in a deserted suburb where, years ago, murders and mutilations destroyed the residents. It doesn't matter...until those that caused the deaths come back - those that sprang from the earth. Those that need. Those that are not human.
The Harris's nice house stands between them and what they must have. Nothing has ever mattered more.

Strange
I just kind of feel that this story is kind of let to your own imagination. Either I was distracted and never really got the full meaning to the book or it wasn't there. I mean you pick up on the details along the way and get an idea of what is going on but I just never really got all of it,

The End Left Me In The Dark
Good story, great characters...but it's missing more than an ending that's for sure.
I really was getting into the story & it was getting creepy, but then it just dropped off & kept on dropping off.
Narrator was great! Though some parts for VERY ANNOYING, such as when he kept on calling out for Erika.
