Publisher's Summary

Hard-hitting and powerful, this psychological thriller has it all; sex, murder, power, glamour, secrets, lies, revenge, and wicked moments of laugh out loud. Set in the colourful underbelly of glitterati London and the stunning Amalfi Coast. Stalkers, prostitutes, ex SAS, footballers, WAGs and the British press pay the price of childhood secrets, an abused cherubic choirboy pays the price of beauty and ladies who lunch pay the price of greed, deceit and lust - as evil steps centre stage. It’s no wonder this one's going to Hollywood.

Music and sound design by Daniel Barbera of Rail Music.

ODD....

I am really not sure what to say about this book. I am not sure why it is in erotic (I am sure the publisher/audible does but it escaped me) there were a lot of twists and turns and I totally did not see the last one and for that reason I gave it 4 stars.

Of course ONLY because of the last twist will I have to get the next book. Overall the book is good just odd, I know that doesn't help the prospective listener a lot but that is the best word I can use.

The author does a good job narrating, I usually won't get books where the narrator is the author, so I think that helped with the flow of the book. A standard narrator really could have messed the book up if they didn't know the intent of the author.

With all of that said it was a good book, I have to admit I couldn't listen to it all at once like I usually do but it did keep drawing me back into it so that must say something.

I am anxious to see what other readers have to say about it.....

Dark

This is a seriously dark book. The book was a little slow up to the middle but then it picked up and went in so many directions. This guy's obsession was completely nuts. I'm glad the narrator did the reading for this because I don't think anyone else would have understood the characters enough to make this book interesting. There are just so many plot twist that when it came together in the end I was amazed!

This should have been listed under another genre because is doesn't fit in erotica.

Good listen if not for the poor audio!

Would you try another book from Siobhan C. Cunningham and/or Siobhan C. Cunningham?

Not if it is read in the same manner.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the book but hate the audio. Very annoying to have music play for a minute or two coupled with the announcement of the title of the book and the narrator at the beginning of each

Ultimately unsatisfying

The physcological thriller thread of this novel was well written and kept me going with it. But the chick/cl-t lit entwined thread badly detracted from it. Im not sure what all the fancy announcments were about to introduce episodes. I suspect they were to give the medicore some potential artistic merit. The writer should definately not read her own novel. At times she seemed in a hurry to end it. ......... i dont blame her.

Amazon Review THE PENANCE LIST

"Boy, if anyone can write about sex this lady can! It's a complete turn on from start to finish - I'm ashamed to say even the sadistic bits have erotic appeal - and no writer's ever done that for me before!! I love the characters - they involve you straight away and the plot keeps you hooked right to the end.... what end? I'm going to read the next two parts of the trilogy as soon as I can get hold of them. You're a very brave lady Ms Cunningham, and I love what you've done: you've somehow given us all the things we want to read about in one. It makes you shiver, it makes you laugh out loud, it intrigues you, it arouses you... you don't feel guilty lapping up the horror because the characters in one way or another seem to deserve it (or get their revenge for it). No, I'd be happy 'hanging out' with those girls and fantasising about that sex. Mmmmm!!! AMAZON BOOKS 5.0 out of 5 stars Giving sex a bad name by JI

RUBBISH!

Haven't even finished listening too it, rubbish quality recording with the narrator stumbling over the words she wrote herself (whats that about!?) and a poor recording quality.

A negative review I'm afraid

I didn't enjoy this story, but mainly because of other issues rather than the content. It is read by the author and she has a slight speech impediment (very soft "R") which in itself isn't a problem but as she is not a professional voice talent she has very poor microphone technique and it is obvious when she is getting to the bottom of a page and starting at the top of a new one. There are page and clothes rustles and she must be reading quietly as there is a constant background hiss. Technically it is poorly recorded and the editing is slip shod and of variable quality. The sound effects are cut in over silence (which makes them really obvious after the aforementioned hiss behind the voice) and sometimes interfere with the speech. Page rustles could have been cut out on several occasions but were left in and there are numerous instances of double words left in rather than being cut out when the narrator has made a mistake. Where the edits are made on the speech they quite often clip the start of the incoming word. So sadly I would not recommend this to anyone!

Dire

I agree with the reviews posted by r and Helen below. The quality of this audio book is terrible. Authors should leave their egos at the door and let professionals read their books! I would have been prepared to have forgiven the poor audio quality if the story had been any good but, unfortunately, it is dire. The characters are a cliche and all deeply unappealing; everyone speaks in soundbites; no description goes further than to explain that the person concerned is "sooo f***ing sexy"; and, worst and fundamentally of all, the graphic descriptions of abduction, rape and murder in this book sit badly with the author's choice of flip tone. It is unclear whether she is suggesting with this novel that these crimes that can just be shrugged off with a glass of red wine, a pasta meal and a "sooo f***ing sexy" naked man for the evening. The scene in which the "heroine" enjoys being raped is particularly offensive and sets back the campaign for women's rights in these circumstances about 40 years. If "this one's going to Hollywood" then it is going to some bad, soft porn producer! "Hey, Big Boy," (yes, she actually uses "Big Boy" more than once) "have you come to fix my refrigerator?" Trash - save your money...

Wow!

What a fab, sexy, thrilling holiday read. I can't wait for the next installment. The only bit I didn't like and found a bit irritating was the music at the end of every "episode" - what was the point. Still, only a very minor blip in a brilliant book.

A good read - highly erotic

A great, erotic story and with an interesting twist at the end.

Siobhan's narration is engaging and gripping.

I am keen to read the sequel when it is out on Audible.

OK - just don't over think it.

Interesting listen, however just felt it could have been more. The story drifted a bit in the middle but good start and finish. I didn't realise it was part of a series (trilogy apparently). But based on the ending I am now going to have to get the next book. If you are someone who likes to pick holes in plots and cannot accept fiction as make believe you might want to give it a miss. If you just want a interesting story and can suspend reality for awhile go for it.
