Publisher's summary

Do you think that weight gain and disease are simply a function of age and genetics?

Do you wonder why, despite eating a whole-grain, low-fat diet and putting in countless hours of exercise, you aren't getting any thinner?

Most importantly: Why do you eat the way you do? Because someone else told you that it is healthy?

In the paleo community, we believe that food is medicine. We have either eliminated all symptoms of, or dramatically improved, the diseases we had - diseases like diabetes, heart disease, ADHD, Crohn's, and many others - by eating real food, and in most cases have become completely medication-free. And we have learned that when your body is healthy inside, it will automatically look healthier on the outside, too. As a result, most of us have lost a lot of body fat. Bonus.

The people featured in this audiobook are but a handful of thousands who have all undergone a miraculous transformation in their health. We are all born again - but this time in perfect health - and are excited to share our secret with you.

The only question left is: Do you have the courage to make a huge positive change in your life?

The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation is perfect for those needing to reset their health, those wanting to shed weight, those wanting to show the power of paleo to friends and family, and those who are already paleo and need a bit of motivation.

The audiobook is frankly the best piece of "paleo marketing material" you can imagine. It's hard to resist for someone new to paleo. It's also an excellent source of motivation for people who need a little boost to reinforce their diet.

The Paleo Miracle is a compilation of 59 stories of real people like you who have either eliminated all symptoms of, or dramatically improved, the diseases they had. Their bodies have also transformed dramatically - from the inside out.

Nailed it!

Where does The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Joe Salama gets it. He and those who shared their stories in the book are among the fortunate few that have learned that pretty much everything we were taught about food is wrong. Really wrong. Low fat, fat free, grain-heavy SAD diet simply perpetuates the many issues that are so prevalent in America, including diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Unfortunately, most of our healthcare professionals seem slower to catch on so it is an endless cycle of damage. This book is great inspiration if you are thinking about making a change that will positively impact your physical and mental well-being.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I split it up during my commute anyway.

How can you NOT try Paleo after hearing these testimonials?

I bought this book to encourage me to take the final step in committing to a 30-day Paleo challenge. After listening, I asked my mother with multiple autoimmune - Inflammatory related issues to give it a listen. We both start our 30-day challenge September 1st!

Helpful For Inspiration

This book gives several examples of how adopting the Paleo diet has helped many different people. Anyone who listens will likely find someone who has a "before" story that is something like their own. The stories range from athletes who have improved their performance, to some that are suffering from poor health or obesity who have turned their lives around. The contributors came from varied backgrounds and came to the Paleo lifestyle in a variety of ways. The narrators are pleasant, and the stories are each of a decent length that you can listen a few minutes here and there.

This book is NOT an instructional manual, and I have seen a few people write reviews complaining because they expected recipes or dietary instructions. If your expectations are correct, you will be happy with this book.

Inspiring stories!

If you could sum up The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation in three words, what would they be?

So many inspiring stories of people solving their health issues through nutrition and lifestyle changes. It's not just about how good you look naked. It's about breathing, moving, living. We've been given such an uphill battle to fight with bad recommendations from our government and in turn the medical establishment about how to eat. It's wonderful to see people finding ways to work for them. I'm inspired to learn more. The International Paleo Movement Group's Facebook Group seems to be the place to start. That's where all these people meet to share ideas and inspire each other to get healthy by eating good food and exercising, etc.

What did you like best about this story?

It's not just one story. It's a whole bunch of success stories. I liked hearing all the different voices and different places where people are coming from. I like hearing the triumph over misinformation.

What about Carrie Barton and Jamieson Trotter ’s performance did you like?

Just two voices, yet they were able to capture so many personalities. Impressive.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few instances where doctors pretty much said, "You're doomed....here are you piils, or treatment plan...accept that you're doomed..." and people said, no way, I'm going to figure this out and fix it another way. I loved that! No wheelchair for me! Nope, I'm going to live!

Any additional comments?

I'm so glad that Joe Salama and Christina Lianos gathered up these stories. And, I'm so glad that there's an audiobook, now. I can listen to a story and get reinvigorated to take care of myself.

Inspiring and Motivating!

I have done paleo in the past and had amazing results but then somehow took a wrong turn and ended up heavier than I’ve ever been. This book has inspired and motivated me to take another go at it, I also think that if I hit a rough patch I can turn to this book and keep that motivation alive! Great narration too. If you’re looking to change your life, get this book!

Is Paleo the new Christian Science?

What did you like best about The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation? What did you like least?

Some of the stories were very inspiring. Some of the exact medical issues I deal with were represented in the book. About half of the stories made me pause though. They present paleo as a religion using terms like, "born again", "worship your body", "spiritual awakening". It was too much. I understand this lifestyle has been transforming for some, but to make a religion of it is going a bit far. It also lists tons of websites in a really annoying way. "H T T P forward slash, forward slash on and on and on. It's like a never ending commercial for blogs, websites, and Cross Fit. Jamieson Trotter does a decent job narrating. Carrie Barton sounds like a female robot. I literally thought I was listening to a robot for the first minute or two, then realized, this is a real person. I cringed each time it was her turn to speak.

How could the performance have been better?

Keep Jamieson and get rid of Carrie.

Was The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation worth the listening time?

Probably not. Ten stories would have summed it up. It was pretty much on repeat after that.
