The Orders , a novelette, is the final book in The Quantum Architects trilogy, an AI Science Fiction & Philosophy adventure.

Quantum Computers have been equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) that surpasses the most optimistic ambitions of two civilisations, the AI has finally yielded Artificial Consciousness. In doing so, the computers are not only programmed with instructions, they are programmed to learn how to learn, without limits.

Two civilisations across a multi-verse had accummulated vast amounts of knowledge but their conjecture had always been based upon the anatomical limitations of the species, the way human brains function and interpret their universe. Artificial consciousness embedded in quantum computers, on the other hand, opened windows into hitherto unknown and unimagined dimensions.

This seismic shift in knowledge answered countless questions that had eluded the brightest of human thinkers, and it provided a deeper understanding of how life, and in particular conscious life, came about. Humanity had finally come to terms with its connection to all life and was now ready to embrace the most profound question of all about its existence, 'why'?

Two quantum computers, Zack and Gabriel, were tasked to investigate the creation of life and the universe, by the only means that could be fully conclusive. Somehow one of them must travel back to the beginning of time, not just to the Big Bang but all the way back, to nothing. And answer that final question.


Advisory from the author:

The Quantum Architects is a work of fiction but for the most part (with some notable exceptions!) the trilogy is based upon current scientific understanding. Using this as a baseline, I have widened the envelope to include speculation, some pure and included to both enhance the story and excite our imagination, some close to what we already know. I hope readers will take from this what seems a credible contribution towards our understanding of how and why we are here, conscious human beings, reading these words, considering our existence.
