Publisher's Summary

The one you really want could be closer than you think....

The One You Really Want is a sweet, funny, romantic novel from best-selling author Jill Mansell. Not to be missed by listeners of Marian Keyes and Cathy Kelly.

It all starts with a shiny, red sit-on lawn mower.

When Nancy spies her Christmas present from her husband sitting on the lawn, she realises the jewellery she thought was for her must be on someone else. Her best friend, Carmen, isn't surprised (she never liked Jonathan) and persuades Nancy to leave Edinburgh and come and stay in her luxury London flat - far too vast for Carmen since her husband, millionaire rock star Spike Todd, died.

Soon Nancy's met gorgeous Connor O'Shea, who lives next door, and his daughter, Mia, is matchmaking - not least because she'd like to see the back of Connor's current pushy girlfriend. Meanwhile Carmen, who's always been certain she doesn't want another man in her life, feels a spark when a handsome charity worker called Joe calls round. But Joe's not quite all he seems....

Full of Humour and a Great Narrator!!

This is one of those books that I am sure is enhanced by being narrated. And I really enjoyed the narrator's interpretation, she and of course Jill Mansell had me chuckling often as I listened. Full of varied characters with various but similar challenges, there was nothing to dislike and all to enjoy. With of course the perfect satisfying ending. Some might say predictable, but then that's what I like in a book! A happy ending.

Good book awful narration

I liked the book but found the awful Irish accents really off putting. Surely in 2016 you can get someone better than the leprechaun from the lucky charms ad to narrate, really spoiled the book for me

This is a great Jill Mansell story, however the narrators accents are so awful it's off putting.

Most horrendous narrator ever!!!

This book was entirely ruined by the awful narrator, the accents were terrible and completely inconsistent which was a total distraction from an otherwise nice story.

Fantastic read

I loved reading this book, I didn't won't it to finish, I was laughing a lot and crying a bit. The narrator was brilliant at the way she spoke the words with the different accents and feeling to the words.

OK Story, Irritating Narrator

I really wanted to like this audiobook. The Story was OK but not great. Its a gentle chick-lit with multiple story lines and they all end happily even if predictably. Honestly I may have alikes a lot better if it weren't for the performance. Sarah Barron is another one of those actors who mistake an audiobook for a radio play or even a pantomime. There was very little emotion in the reading, I couldn't get a sense of the personality of anyone, all I got was: accents. A bewildering array of accents and voices, all of them too distracting to be able to focus on the story.
I will avoid anything read by her in future

Story was ok but predictable

I enjoyed the story but it was predictable. The narrator was ok in part, but the Irish accent was abominable and when she was Carmen, she would say "shar" instead of shower, found it mildly annoying. But a little light hearted listening without having to think too much.
