Publisher's Summary

With a body as solid as his reputation, private investigator Drey St. John never dreamed helping the Braddocks discover the truth behind their father's fatal crash would lead to his own mother's shocking confession: Senator Braddock was Drey's biological father. Determined to solve the case, Drey enlisted all-work-and-no-play Charlene Anderson's help. But the more time he spent with the beautiful forensic scientist, the more he realized their sharp banter fronted a simmering mutual attraction that wouldn't be denied.

Charlene's career left no time for exotic playboys. Then she found herself under Drey's roof, in need of his protection - and a victim of his seductive charms. But when the late senator's secrets - and Drey's true identity - were uncovered, would Drey face the betrayals in his past, and his future as a Braddock, with Charlene by his side?

Need More Brenda Jackson Books on Audible

I totally enjoyed this book. I was hesitant at first because I prefer to read the actual book instead of listening to audio. Actually I find it boring. However the narrator did a good job with it and she had me hooked. I am still going to buy the hard copy, as I am collector of Brenda's books. I look forward to hearing more books from Brenda Jackson on Audible (especially something from Westmoreland, Steele, Madaris family).

Finally - Brenda Jackson on Audible!

I have been waiting years for harlequin to release some of Brenda Jackson's books on audible. This particular title is part of a series but stands on it's on. The romance is dead on and the suspense is just as awesome. You can't go wrong with this book - enjoy!

Voice didn't match the book

The book was great, however the reader...why can't we get an african american reader for african american books? Looking at the cover then hearing the voice was a complete disappointment for me. I finished the book but the reader completely through off the vibe of the book. I have no idea what the reviewer referring to that the voice was ethnic. NOT!

Ehhh

I would have preferred more suspense and mystery instead of the boring predictable romance scenes that was created. I had to speed it up and even skip towards the end.

sweet and sassy<br />

That's how I see the female lead. Capable of handling her own but vulnerable in the eyes of her protector. The narrator's voice was a bit high pitch but I enjoyed the overall story.

Evidently Evidently Evidently

Evidently the author ran out of words to use because every other word was “evidently”. That kinda got on my nerves. Other than that, the story was ok but took a little long to get to the point. The narrator was cool, I’ve listened to her in other books and enjoyed her as well.
