Sangharakshita, the London-born Buddhist teacher, is one of the most influential figures in the development of Buddhism in the West. The founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order(originally called the Western Buddhist Order), he sought to draw on all the Buddhist traditions and produce a new synthesis with particular relevance to modern Western society - a view that underpins his teaching of the Dharma.
This groundbreaking series of lectures was given in London in 1965 and is presented here in a newly mastered recording which has dealt with many - though not all - the extraneous noises. It remains one of the clearest and most direct accounts of the Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path.

The Numbered Discourses (Aṅguttara Nikāya) is the last and longest of the four primary divisions of the Sutta Piṭaka, (Baskets of Discourses) that make up the main original teachings of the Buddha. The word aṅguttara literally means 'up by one factor', i.e. 'incremental'. It refers to the fact that the discourses are arranged by numbered sets, with the numbers increasing by one.

Excellent review of the topic
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. The author is clearly knowledgable and is well versed in the western as well as buddhist philosophy.
What does Urgyen Sangharakshita bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The lecture has a few more 'small detours' that are not captured in the written text. I found them to be helpful at times.

A brilliant exposition of Buddhist teachings
The core Buddhist teaching or set of teachings of the Noble Eightfold Path were explained in a very straightforward and thoughtful way. Totally recommend!
