Publisher's Summary

A Hell-bound urban-fantasy series featuring apocalyptic antics and searing humor....

Gabe has carved a successful niche into his arctic afterlife, but when Judas Iscariot makes him an offer, he doesn't dare refuse. Gabe must leave behind his black-market Twinkies and bootleg Dr. Peppers to become a double agent for the most dangerous organization the world has never heard off.

Easier said than done, especially when his skill set is limited to irritating quips and an eye for button-fly jeans. To make matters worse, his new partner, Alex, is a beautiful, hard-as-nails agent who wants nothing to do with him.

Gabe must figure out how to work with Alex, stop a deadly pathogen from being released Topside, and do it without botching the mission or revealing his true identity. If this unlikely hero can’t figure it out before disaster strikes, facing the wrath of Hell will be the least of his worries....

If you like imperfect heroes, witty banter, and fast-paced action, then you'll love The Nine, the first book in The Judas Files, a snarky urban-fantasy series.

Book 2, New Dominion, and book 3, Artful Evil, are now available.

Fun, Fast, Adventurous Read!

This was a nice escape with plenty of sarcastic humor, an interesting take on hell, and surprising levels of compassion for the context. The audio performance was excellent, too!

Good action and adventure

Really enjoyed the first book in this new series. Constant action, which keeps your attention. The author does a good job in character development, making us want to know more about their life before they died. I look forward to the next book in the series, and learning more about the world they live in. The narrator did a good job bringing these characters to life too.

First of many, I hope!

This is the first in what I hope is a lengthy series about Hell resident Gabe and his adventures as an operative for the Judas Agency. With many clever twists and reimagining of apocalyptic characters and imagery, The Nine holds you attention from the first page with its wise-cracking main hero and cast of "colorful" characters. Rather than depressing or scary, as you might expect a book about Hell and the eternally damned to be, I laughed out loud during many of the passages. The book is a perfect blend of gritty thriller, heartwarming hidden hero, and dry humor. The narrator Andrews does an amazing job of bringing the characters and story to life. Highly recommended!

I skipped class to finish it

An intriguing (under)world. The Nine is a complex place full of treachery and danger. probably the most relatable protagonist I have encountered. It's as if Gabe was tailor made for Macleod's narrative style. This is NOT a Dresden clone, Harris stands alone with this gripping, hilarious and all too human story. The stage is set and I simply cannot wait for the next book in The Judas Files.
