Now Frank has found religion. Standing in his crisp white shirt and restrictive tie, he's eager to recount last Sunday's sermon to his older sister. As the sermon unfolds, the father must make a terrible choice – one that cuts deep for Frances. Can she and her brother withstand these new challenges?

wonderful story and story teller.

A short story that pulls you in and leaves you touched and perplexed. It has three stories in one all unfinished but all connected to the point they intertwine. I have read and listened to it several times over the past few years. Each time the ending leaves me waiting for it to be finished.

This story has no ending! The fact that it has an exciting story and good acting is ruined by the fact that it isn't finished.

Story flows as it's read--easy & natural

The narration animates the story nicely. Fluid, clever. Feels inconsequential but somehow essential & true.

Disappointed

Sometimes I hear stories that I believe are test cases of the writer, written to see what he/she can get away with, and this is one of those…
Or perhaps the author became bored, or was interrupted.
Good thing this was included in my Plus membership.

Another gem from Wolff

Another very short short story by a modern master of the form. I simply can't get enough of this writer.

Waste of my time

Nothing new here. Unpleasant, annoying, and not enriching to me in any way.
I will not read his books.

Didn't really go anywhere

Interesting backstory but the main character basically told a story to his sister the whole time, which he had heard from his pastor after he found religion. And nothing really changes in the siblings' dynamics. I thought it was boring compared to some of the others by Wolff.
