The Golden Age of Satire

An excellent demonstration of BBC comedy at its best including vintage wit from Jeremy Hardy, Andy Hamilton, Phil Jupitus, Susan Calman,Francis Wheen, Rebecca Front and introducing newcomer Samira Ahmed. This is the last series presented by the pioneering Sandy Toksvig. Sandy's style has brought this venerable series to a new audience concerned about the state of contemporary politics & society.

Timeless Fun

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would certainly recommend this to a friend and indeed anyone who is a fan of this brilliant radio programme

What other book might you compare The News Quiz: Series 87 to, and why?

Just a Minute as they are both classic Friday evening/Saturday lunchtime comedy

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?

Not really applicable but Sandi Toskvig is always hilarious

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh....lots!

Any additional comments?

I know these episodes relate to current events but they retain a timelessness due to the performance of the panel. Jeremy Hardy is always on form and Sandi is one of the funniest female presenters in the industry. I can't over state the quality of this programme and have spent many an hour on long drives with tears running down my cheeks. Possibly not good for safe motoring!
