When people begin suffering from a mysterious illness panic ensues, and soon only a tiny faction of the earth's population remains. With nowhere to call home and no answers to be found, Daniel Brickman takes up residence in the White House and begins trying to rebuild society, but the spheres were only the beginning. "Daniel retreated upstairs to the President's private living room in the White House. The ornate furniture which seemed so untouchable when he had first arrived was now filled with memories. He couldn’t believe how alone he felt and he wondered if every man who had lived in that mansion felt the same way. Once again the same questions came to his mind, the same questions that had been lurking deep in the recesses of his mind since the day the spheres had appeared over Washington D.C. Why did all the people who had succumbed to the plague seem to be merely sleeping? And why had he survived when others hadn’t? He wondered if there really were other worlds out there, places where intelligent beings sent spheres of death hurtling through the dark, cold void of space to wipe out the human race? He wondered if those beings had counted on his survival."

Not the best

Ai reading felt flat. The voice was monotonous and robotic. It would’ve been much more enjoyable with a real person reading and using proper punctuation and inflection.

The New World

I was totally engrossed with this story. The AI reading had great inflection on all parts. There were a few errors with pronunciation, but it wasn't a hugh distraction. I hope the is another part to this book.

Excellent book, I thoroughly enjoy listening. Greatly appreciated the author’s creativity and imagination. Can’t wait to read the next book

No real ending

The ending was incomplete. Don’t like being left hanging. Not very believable. Why read a book with no ending.
