Aiden Shaw is the smuggest, most infuriating man I’ve ever met. Ever. He’s also my next-door neighbor.

We’ve been at war for four bitter years. But last night, Aiden crossed a line.

The worst part? My public humiliation was caught on camera, and the video’s a viral sensation.

Now, the entire internet is raving about our “off the charts chemistry” and “crackling sexual tension”.

Apparently, everyone is delusional. And blind.

Yet when Aiden turns up on my doorstep, asking me to pose as his girlfriend, I find myself saying yes. Even if that means taking a couples vacation with him. Yup, couples vacation. With my mortal enemy. Who I have to pretend to be madly in love with.

Great.

I can put our war on ice for a little while, Aiden Shaw.

But in the end, someone’s gotta lose.

And it’s not going to be me.

The Neighbor War is a laugh-out-loud funny, swoony, closed door romantic comedy. Expect some mild language and suggestive jokes alongside sizzling hot chemistry and tension you could cut with a knife—all without the explicit scenes.

It was a super cute romantic book. However, I was not too fond of the female audible voice. Overall, it is a good read.

It's a cute book!

Thank you Katie for another brilliant book! Loved the little pranks and the retreat has inspired me to consider of something similar for myself! Love the strong characters and the way that readers get to know them little by little…

Looking forward to the next one

Should you read this book? Yeah! It is entertaining, made me laugh and is a sweet, funny story. However, this was the 4th book that I read that was written by Katie Bailey, and it was my least favorite of the 4. I love Bailey’s books! I think she is a great author who can write truly funny romances. Her books often have witty banter, which is my favorite, and funny situations throughout as well. I think that her character development is on point in every book that I have read and she is skilled at writing VERY lovable characters. I have liked her so much that I am listening to all of the books that she has written! This book, however, started so strong but then sadly ended up slightly disappointing me in the end. I really loved the start of the book and even up through the middle. The tension between the two characters was thick, the banter and flirtatiousness was fun and funny, and the premise was pretty fresh too! My issue with this book came once the two characters came together - after so much buildup, it sort of felt like everything then was resolved quickly, thrown together and wrapped up with a tidy bow. I think the tension between the restaurant boss and the two main characters could have been amped up more, it was a great opportunity that she played with but didn’t choose to take it all the way. The scene in which the conflict arose towards the end, and throughout the rest of the book, felt disjointed from the voice and quality level of the rest of the book, unfortunately. The last line of the book, prior to the final epilogue chapter, was a bit corny and seemed to be out of left field. It could have wrapped with a sweet line, or even just with the kiss. My final issue with this book is that I have a daughter with Type 1 Diabetes, and while I LOVED that the main character was diabetic, some of the info presented in then book was inaccurate. Katie left a note at the end of the book commenting on the fact that she did research Type 1 and did her best to present the disease accurately - and she did get a lot right! There were just some parts that were off, so that bothered me some. In the end I’m super happy she wrote a diabetic lead, even with the small things that were incorrect. I just wish she would have spoken to actual type 1 Diabetics before writing the book, more than 1 would have been helpful. Not every Diabetic gets the same training, unfortunately, and the younger the person is when they are diagnosed, the more well trained that person would have been on how to manage their diabetes. People diagnosed in adulthood generally don’t get as quality of training. Many pediatric diabetics get very extensive training, especially if they were near a Children’s Hospital and could utilize their programs as they grew up. To be fair to Bailey though, even talking to medical professionals that don’t specialize in diabetes (Endocrinologists) will not always give you fully accurate information. There is a difference between learning a little about it, and actually living with the disease everyday. So, sometimes even doctors or nurses will say things to us that are inaccurate. The only thing that really bothered me were the references to “not being able to have sugar.” Diabetics can absolutely eat sugar and treats - they should do so in moderation, but shouldn’t everyone? They can eat almost anything they want to, as long as they cover it correctly with the right amount of insulin. It is also best practice for them to dose with insulin’s at least 10 minutes (or more) before eating, so that the insulin can already be “on-board” and working before they eat. Also, when she had a severe sugar low and was treating it, I would have loved it to have been more informative to readers. Diabetics need to have “quick sugar” items with no fats in them in order to treat their lows. Then once they are “up” they can have things that also have proteins and fats in them to help keep their blood sugar up and avoid another immediate low. So, lows are treated with juice, regular soda, candy like gummies, etc. Then once they get their blood sugar up, they can then have something to help avoid dropping again. I do love that Bailey was willing to write a diabetic lead so much, and a lot of what she presented was accurate. I also loved that she discussed the mental health side of diabetes. As she said in her note, not all Diabetics will feel embarrassed about their diabetes or medical care or devices; however, many are embarrassed. Many will go through phases where they just want to be perceived to be the same as everyone else. That can lead to a lot of issues with managing their treatment of their disease as well. So, kudos to Bailey for addressing some of these topics and calling out the pressure that women have placed on them in general to be or to look a certain way as well. I know it sounds like I complained a lot - I’m sorry! I really did like the book, I just wanted to share why this one has been my least favorite of the 4 that I have read. If you started reading Bailey’s books with this book?? Keep reading her other works!! This book is enjoyable and entertaining, I am glad that I read it! I just think this was her second book ever written, and her growth as an author is clear as you keep reading her books. Keep up the great work, Katie, you are fantastic!

Fun and encouraging. Although there seemed to be a lot of exaggerated emotions and associated results, it helped clarify the encouragement and the reasons it was needed. The story was a fun journey to HEA.
