intriguing story and very well produced

I loved the story, performances were excellent. I found myself wanting the story to be longer just because I loved the world they created.

Tight exciting Western

Drops you right into the action and keeps slowly unraveling the mysteries to keep you guessing. Very dialogue driven, making for a great propulsive energy, and the narrators do a brilliant job with it.

Western suspense! Satisfying story and ending

There were several opportunities for this story to veer off and become cheesy and predictable, but it avoids those traps, stayed on course, and finished well.

Emotional depth and compelling performance

As an audiobook aficionado, I was duly impressed by the story and performance of Boucvalt's latest work. Without dropping any spoilers, I will say that the author plays on very human themes of loss, anger, revenge, fear, and love, each in a multifaceted, nuanced treatment of the internal struggle that human emotion entails. Brett moves seamlessly from narration to dialogue, Gerson's priest is phenomenal, creating a very real, vivid, mental image of the character, and Boucvalt's own reading shows substantial range - mysterious, entrancing, charming, smarmy, sympathetic, horrifying, and, above all, authentic, It was enjoyable, exciting, and thought-provoking. I felt like I was attending a top-notch live performance, as the actors deftly bring the characters to life; at times I forgot that it was audio only!
