Publisher's summary

For the audio book version, Dr. Warren Farrell personally rewrote the highlights of The Myth of Male Power as a dialogue. The questions are similar to what others will ask you when you discuss these issues. You’ll have Dr. Farrell’s best answers.

The Myth of Male Power helps each family member understand that genuine power is neither status nor money, but “control over one's life.” He documents that virtually every society that has survived has done so by persuading its sons to be disposable--whether in war or in work; and therefore indirectly as dads. And disposability is not power.

Considered the Bible of men's studies—yet highly empathetic to women (Dr. Farrell was repeatedly elected to the Board of the National Organization for Women in NYC)-- the meticulously researched The Myth of Male Power takes the listener on a captivating journey around the world, throughout history, biology, the Bible, the law, and everyday life, challenging every currently-held assumption about men, women and the family.

In his compassionate voice, Warren answers questions like, "Doesn't the fact that men earn more mean they have more power?" with "The road to high pay is a toll road—tolls such as working more hours, being away from our family, being engineers, not artists…." Farrell posits that men have mistakenly defined power as "feeling obligated to earn money someone else spends while he dies sooner."

To help each family member appreciate parents and grandparents, Farrell shares, "in the past, neither sex had genuine power; both sexes had roles: women's role: raise children; men's role: raise money. Our grandparents didn't preach rights--they preached responsibilities. Both moms and dads sacrificed so their children's lives would be better than theirs."

Dr. Farrell gives a 100% refund if this doesn’t generate one of your family’s most valuable discussions. See www.warrenfarrell.com.

Eye opening

It is wonderful to hear somebody looking at gender issues from an unbiased point of view. As man I believe there is lots of truth in this and I would hope this book would help. Us to talk more frankly about what's happening to our society and to us. I wished there was more information and details in this book.

Sobering

Men are the ones who go to war and work the crap jobs.
Simply put feminism is a psychological mind trip down reverse psychology and manipulation. This book gives a chilling insight into how good women actually have it. I already know women do not want to hear it.

I was about to be disappointed it wasn't the book but an interview and then the author nailed it. Kudos.

Feminists Suck

A great listen, very informative, it made me see things in a different way. I can see why feminists hate this book, it blows their tired bullshit out of the water.

The reasons why society values man less than women

It's an eye opening book detailing why men are given less value than women it today's western society. Men need to be aware of this to make sure put ourselves in a position that is at least fair to us, and continue to pursue excellence, and not women. With excellence women's interest is attained. I like what Warren Farrell said "Power is the ability to control ones life"
