The Cosmic Doctrine is a condensed blueprint outline of God’s manifestation in this creation. Complex indeed! But what has tended to bother some about the Cosmic Doctrine teaching has been the almost total emphasis in explaining evolution simply as being the psychic nuts and bolts of God. Leaving one with the impression that God may be reduced from a Great and Infinite Being to a kind of mechanical Newtonian clockwork. However there is much more to it than that.

Perfection, more Dion Fortune please!
Seeing this book pop up on audible was a wonderful surprise. It's something I've been meaning to read for years and in my circumstance it's easier for me to get through books in the audio format. I've been absorbing it in chunks, resisting to passages and appreciating hearing the pronunciation of the Hebrew.
The narrator does an excellent job and is very precise with his words. Though initially disappointed the narrator was not female (and British), I quickly adjusted to the top notch work of the narrator.
This book is a revelation, and should be read by every serious occultist.

A benchmark classic of Western Occultism!
Finally able to get through this book!!
I have owned a printed copy of this book since the late 1980s.
However, I just could not seem to get through it due to the speed which I read (slow & keep going back over what I read).
Thanks to the wonder of audiobooks, I have finally been able to go through this book... TWICE!
I highly recommend this to anyone who studies "Western Occultism" and the Kabbalah.
Dion Fortune incorporates the works of S. L. Macgregor Mathers (Founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn), along with some from his former student, Aleister Crowley (Liber 777 mostly), and many other excellent authors of that time.
An excellent companion book I would recommend would be one of the longer copies of The Sefer Yetzirah.
Many of the aspects Dion Fortune expands upon in this book, have their origins in the Sefer Yetzirah.
The narrator does a decent job in pronouncing the words, although I had to listen to this at 1.5 speed due to his pacing of speech.
Still VERY much worth your time if you have interest in this topic.

essential to hermetical qabalistic practice
The narrator does an excellent job with what is undeniably meaty and complex material. Dion Fortune's work did a lot to bring the mysticism of the Qabalah to modern Pagan and Hermetical practice as we know it today. It is very dense material but worth it.
