Publisher's summary

Twenty years ago: a farmer and his wife are cut to pieces by a ruthless serial killer.

Now: a woman is viciously stabbed to death in the upmarket kitchen of her beautiful house on the edge of the marshes.

Then a man called Daniel Kinder walks into Saltern police station and confesses to the murder.

But DI Rowan Jackman and DS Marie Evans of the Fenland Constabulary soon discover that there is a lot more to Daniel than meets the eye. He has no memory of the first five years of his life and has a rather unusual obsession with his mother....

Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you gripped until the shocking ending.

this story was a bit predictable but overall it was an enjoyable listen. program requires extra words so these words are being added but unneeded.

WOW! Incredible!

I can't believe how great this book was! Narrator, of course, is one of the best. He makes the story come to life. The story line itself was wonderful. I just couldn't wait to get my earbuds back in my ears to listen. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'm counting the days...

Since I now see how this author is such a great story teller, I will now check out her other books. Great stuff!

Unpredictable

The book was well narrated. The plot and story telling were exciting and unpredictable. There were few parts of the story that were appeared to be unrealated to the story itself. Overall the story got me glued to it. Well done

An Excellent Murder Mystery!

This was an engaging mystery from start to finish. Richard Armitage is brilliant! It's hard to believe all those characters were the work of one man.

Enjoyable if unbelievable

Likeable well-drawn characters, well-narrated. Overall plot line was on the silly side but was overall an entertaining listen.

The Murderer’s Son

This is my first Joy Ellis thriller, and I enjoyed it immensely. I appreciated the Jackman and Evans police team, the sensitivity of Jackman and the strong female character Evans. Both strong characters able to work together with mutual
admiration and a hint of sexual tension for each other.

The storyline gave enough twist and turns that could have evolved differently but closed with a surprise ending.

The Murderer’s Son

While this was easily figured out, I found that it kept my interest. Good characters and decent narration. I will listen to more in this series.

Another great mystery!

Joy Ellis can really write a great mystery. I had almost given up on finding a great mystery writer these days, so pleased I kept looking. I love the characters, especially Maria, and Jackman, great team. She writes so you feel as though you are there, and are part of the team. Absolutely brilliant writing!

Good story disappointing ending

This book was good, not great. Other reviewers seemed much taken with it, so perhaps it's just me. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed their banter. The story was interesting, but the ending was way too predictable and pat. The narration was adequate, soothing, which was odd given the violence of the story. Still I intend to listen to the next book in the series, so I obviously didn't hate it.

L-O-V-E-D this book!!!

I used to love to read and have been an Audible subscriber for a while. I travel often and enjoy the convenience of the product.

I really started to dislike reading as my choices became boring with endings that were entirely too predictable. I considered cancelling my subscription- but, boy, I am glad I didn’t. I have listened to the first 2 in the series and am hooked.

The stories are captivating, the characters are believable and the plots have been outstanding. I literally couldn’t “put them down” and finished both in record time. I can’t wait to start the next!!!
