Publisher's summary

The unassailable Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot travels to northern France to investigate a millionaire’s cry for help. Unfortunately, he arrives a day too late. Paul Renauld is found on a golf course in a freshly dug, shallow grave. Stabbed to death, he is in possession of a cryptic love letter. Pitting his wits against the hostile Paris Sûreté, Poirot is looking into Renauld’s past when another corpse surfaces on the same grounds - with wounds from the same murder weapon. But this time, the victim is a total stranger.

With his penchant for delving into the psychology of murder, the intuitive Poirot finds his footing in Christie’s second classic whodunit featuring the now iconic private detective.

Hercule at his finest

Hercule is on the case, but he gets thrown off right in the middle. Hercule continues with his methodical analysis to catch the killer even though every suspect is protecting someone else.

Really it could have been anyone.

There where so many clues yet just like Hasting I was at the mercy of Hercule Poirot.

Superb Performance!

Superb narration. As usual Agatha Christie never disappoints, you think you have it all figured out then the twist and then another!

Twisty Story Well Told

I was grateful for the explanations throughout the story that helped me follow along with all the clues. Keeps you guessing to the very end. Very enjoyable "read" on a road trip.

Best Narrator Ever

Wow, Tim Bruce is a talented guy. This reading was a close to perfect as I've ever heard. He speaks a bit slowly, but that's actually great for those of us older folks. The voices were excellent, with subtle differences that made it very easy to follow who was speaking. I also loved this particular story -- maybe the only Agatha Christie I had never read. Really rich and satisfying.
