Publisher's summary

A brutal mass murder...

With the murders of the entire Hennley family, Sheriff Suzan Clay is left with a crime scene unlike any she has ever dealt with. The savagery of the killer is something the small community of Kodiak Basin, Alaska, has never seen before. With nowhere else to turn, the sheriff is forced to enlist the help of the FBI.

A special agent with a mysterious past...

Special Agent Mickey Parsons of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit receives the sheriff's request and flies to Alaska to help in the investigation. Parsons has the most closed cases of any special agent in Behavioral Science's history, but the mental and physical scars of the last case he handled in the field nearly six years ago have left him tired and contemplating retirement. Uncertain if he has the strength to follow a killer into the darkness again, Parsons may need the sheriff as much as she needs him.

A monster in the making...

Parsons believes the Hennleys to be the killer's first victims. But the sheer brutality has him convinced he's dealing with someone more monster than man. Someone that is escalating in their sadism and, if left free, will bring terror to the community unlike any they have ever experienced.

I hope there's more to this series...

Victor Methos is one of those authors I know I can count on to consistently write a good book worth reading. The Murder of Janessa Hennley is one of those books that stayed with me long after I was done.
This is the first book in the Mickey Parson's series but I don't know if there are any more, at least there are no more on Audible at the moment.
Mickey Parsons is a top notch profiler with the FBI. Since contracting HIV he's been relegated to a tiny little out of the way office. His superior says he's ok with it but his actions tell another story.
When Parsons receives an email asking him for help with the investigation of a family massacred in a small Alaskan town he decides to go there. The sheriff Suzan Clay is much younger but right from the beginning there are sparks on both sides. Parsons believes himself too old for her and the fact that he's HIV positive...
The murders are brutal but mostly left to the imagination and not too graphically described. And of course Clay becomes a potential victim of the murderer.
This story is a taught, fast paced, edge of your seat suspense.
Steve Carlson did a very good job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS.

needed a diff narrator

The story was good but the narrator was not a good choice. He has a nice voice but it did not go w this story. I kept thinking the female sheriff was a man because of narrator's voice range.

Spellbinding!

A completely new scenario on me in regards to the psychopath. Hadn't hear of it before. Don't want to give anything away. Really good thriller, that kept me at the edge of my seat. I also liked the narrator, and thought that he did a very good job with this book.

Outstanding

This is the best story and outstanding narration combination I have enjoyed for a long time. For my money bad narration lessens the impact of the best narrative but outstanding narration lifts even an average story into a five star category. I wish I could give Victor Methos and Steve Carlson six stars in all categories. Terrific!

My Favorite

This is my favorite book thus far! I have listed to at least 5 or 6. This one was my favorite because of the killer’s condition! Victor Methos has become my favorite author to date! I have loved every one who has narrated as well!
