Publisher's summary

It was 335 years ago that a settler in the Virginia colonies completed a sacrificial spell and buried a legendary occult book for the next one destined to find it. Now that person is Darin Dague, a freshman at Jamestown University and deranged sociopath. His chosen target for the spell is his shy, studious roommate, Louis Paige.

Even as Louis struggles to put the pieces of Darin's scheme together, he finds himself trapped in a parallel reality where he must prevent his own sacrifice, save the girl he loves, and thwart Darin's plan to become immortal and inflict suffering on humankind for millennia to come....

The Moving Soul will MOVE your soul

This story is captivating and intriguing. It's not your typical horror story as opposed to a horrific tale that intertwines everyday life and desires with other worldly desires and life.

The main characters move naturally within each other's worlds and deal with the want of love - always just out of hand's reach, and the love of want - not to slip through fingers.

Read by the author, this story feels as if to play from real world scenarios, but for which character?

Enjoyable.

The Moving Soul By Joshua Criss Narrated by same. 1 30 2016

This book is brimming with Suspense, intrigue and dark desires and the dark arts.It takes place at Jamestown University.
Main Characters
Lewis Page-Working his way through college, a bit paranoid when it comes to his love of carolin.
Carolin- Lewis girlfriend.
Darren - Lewis's roommate Rich with a sense of entitlement, Powerful Father.
Professor Mathew Kirkland an expert in languages Latin being one of them.

For most of the time Lewis hardly seen or spoken to Darren. Darren slept in the dorm each night and they nodded in passing. All of a sudden Darren wants to be best buddies.Lewis thought this odd,but went along with it.
Darren had a proposition for Lewis and it paid very well. Darren lost his driving privileges due to a wreckless driving ticket his dad refused to get him out of the penalty was to do 16 hours of community service on campus. He needed Lewis to drive him around and run errors with him.In addition to paying Lewis well, Lewis got to drive his Derren's fancy sports car.
The weirdness starts after Lewis went along to help serve Darren's community service. They were commissioned to clean out the basement in one of the building on campus the had planned to fill in. The items in the basement need to be moved upstairs.During the cleaning up of the basement of Krouse's, they not only found the bones of a racoon and an ancient dusty "Anamamogueless" (moving of souls) the book was written in Latin.Derren seemed to know just what it was that they had found and was very excited about the discovery. Darren had been acting odd, he had Lewis go pick up some type of dagger he had purchased and he told Lewis to pick up Carolin up on his way, that she would be impressed with Darren's car 1960 GTO and the fact that Lewis was driving it.
After the day that Lewis and Carolin had gone to pick up the dagger and Darren insisted that Lewis hold the dagger and put it back in its box. Darren had not been back to their room.
So Lewis started looking around on Darren's side of the room. He found a piece of paper with numbers on it, he figured out it was a phone number. He looked up the exchange in the college directory and found it was the number for Professor Mathew Kirkland, an expert in languages. He decided to call the professor to see if he can meet with him to ask about the old occult book they had found that Kirkland was now translating the five parts for Darren.
Find out more by picking up a copy of the book.
It was nice hearing the Talented Author narrate his book, it lends insight of how the Author was feeling while writing the story, and the way he wanted it expressed.
This is the first piece of work I have read from this author, I was impressed with his story telling abilities. This was a fast paced well written in depth story.I look forward to reading more of his work.

Great story.

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

This is a great story. I really liked the characters. I loved the latter part when Louis and Carolyn get stuck in that other reality and we get the viewpoints of both realities simultaneously. Nice touch. Daryn was a real asshole and I cheered when he got what he deserved.
I would have preferred to have a voice actor instead of the author narrating this book, but after a few chapters I got used to the voice and pacing and managed to simply enjoy the story.

Thrilling and Exciting Without Being Too Scary

Would you listen to The Moving Soul again? Why?

Probably not. Now that I know the outcome, it wouldn't be as exciting the second time around.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Louis. He didn't let his limitations stop him from doing what was right. I liked seeing him grow in confidence as the book progressed.

What does Joshua Criss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I wasn't crazy about his narration at first, but he grew on me. I just like being read to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was very glad when Louis finally got the girl.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book and would be interested in reading other titles by this author.

Couldn't get past the narrator's voice

I tried really hard to get through this audiobook, I just couldn't. I can't speak for the book itself because I was so bothered by the narrator's voice that three hours in, I couldn't take any more. There was so little intonation that I kept losing the plot. I'd have to rewind because I found my mind wandering. It's also read extremely slowly. I tried speeding up the pace and that helped somewhat, but even then the narrator's voice just grated on me until I had a headache. Sometimes authors are the best ones to read their own works, and sometimes not. This is a "not." It's a shame because I think I would have enjoyed the book otherwise. I grew up in the area of Jamestown, Va and the premise of the story seemed interesting to me. Sadly, I just couldn't keep focused on it due to the narrator. I suspect if I'd tried to read it myself, this review might have been entirely different.
