All of this took place only a few years before I was coming of age. I knew feminist women, and was aware that the times, they were a-changing! Yet I never knew how it all came about. I enjoyed this book thoroughly.

History comes alive

Voices a bit tiresome in repetition but offset by great history lessons as views by those who were there

A well done herstory of the women's movement!

The women's movement was uniquely described through a collection of first hand memories by those involved. It was a window to experiencing these critical events first hand. I was a young teen during these events and remember a number of them being reported by the news. This book fleshed out the limited viewpoint I had available to me at the time. I enjoyed the various narrations, the different voices helped keep my attention. I appreciated that ALL women from ALL races were included in the story. The author did a good job of "painting" this story using a variety of tools and colors. I enjoyed hearing the short resumes of a list of accomplished participants. This book helped me more deeply appreciate the women who came before me and cleared a better path ahead for me, and the women who follow.

The courage of women to challenge norms

Such an interesting read. I learned many things from this book about the movement. I will encourage others to read how difficult it was to attain equality and caution those who seem too willing to give them up.

Must read contemporary social history

Completely engaging first person accounting from all the luminaries of the woman’s movement for equality and social justice.

Just a collection of quotes..

I was very disappointed and did not enjoy. There was no real analysis or original thought by author. This book wasn’t written it was just assembled.
