Publisher's Summary

The Wall Street Journal bestselling series

Investigating a missing persons case on Murder Mountain means looking for trouble in a propulsive thriller by the author of The Raid.

When someone disappears on Northern California’s lawless Murder Mountain, it isn’t news. The vast terrain for illegal marijuana harvests is also a notorious black hole for outsiders. But when that someone is the family friend of the persuasive and righteous Senator Steele, finding him becomes covert investigator Ryan Decker’s mission.

For Decker, the risks of infiltrating a multibillion-dollar outlaw industry are greater than he could possibly understand. Especially when that industry has flourished into the profitable backbone of a secretive and influential DC-based think tank. And protecting its untraceable revenue in the Emerald Triangle is a band of ruthless white nationalists.

What begins as a seemingly straightforward favor soon pulls Decker and his partner, Harlow Mackenzie, into a high-stakes conspiracy linked to the most cold-blooded puppet masters and power brokers in the country. The harder Decker and Harlow work to expose the insidious faction, the harder it’ll be to make it out of Murder Mountain alive.

Ryan Decker, Book 3

THE MOUNTAIN is an excellent suspense thriller, but it is not as good as the first two novels in the Ryan Decker series (The Rescue and The Raid).

A Pattern

Yes, I am a bit slow on this, but I have noticed that these Ryan Decker books have developed into a predictable pattern of events. There are always one or two minor shoot outs with people that can only be designated as bullet magnets culminating in a major shoot out with even more people that seem to be genetically predisposed to drawing flying bullets to them. Over all, the plot has a good concept in each book. It’s just events develop into a repetitive pattern with always the same people winning.

Another great one by Steve Konkoly!

Konkoly doesn't disappoint in this action/crime novel. Narrator is great as always. Great choice for those who lose attention quickly if a story slows down too much. Konkoly also ads the right amount of humor to cause you to laugh aloud every so often.

Really?!?!

Why do I have to wait almost a year for book four? Excellent book and performance by the narrator. Ryan Decker is getting close to Alex Fletcher in my personal hall of heroes, keep up the superb writing Steven Konkoly!

Already waiting on BOOK 4! A Great Series.

Steven Konkoly keeps delivering on this series! If you like Brad Thor’s Scot Havath character, you’ll love Ryan Decker. This is another excellent story in the continuing adventures of Ryan Decker and Harlow McKenzie. The character development continues to expand and I’m already waiting for the next book!

Never As Simple As It Looks

Thom's Narration is the perfect foil for this story of government Corruption that seems to function like an 8 legged black widow spider. Break 2 legs off no matter how harshly, it still scuttles around continuing to spin it's webs and capture Innocents in their wraps. Well Senator Steele, Ryan Decker, Harlow Mackenzie and their teams are growing. Carlos was a terrific add last time, but I think Kix/Brooklyn is going to be my girl.

Anyway the reckless adult son of Steele's best friend has gone to the Emerald Triangle in Northern California. Counties of Mendocino, Humboldt and Trinity where Marijuana is grown has been taken over by illegal elements who have no problem using extra firepower, threats, kidnapping murders and land grabs to get what they want. This time the group isn't MS13 or "just a white supremacists" group, but some Corruption coming straight out of Washington DC. Nothing is ever as simple as it looks for this team that's truly coming together. Lots of legal and gun battle action lightened a bit by the snaky comraderie. Excellent!!

Not a Bad Story

I read the first two books and enjoyed those. I thought I would do the audio version of this one. I really didn't like the reader. His voices, especially for the women were not good. I don't know if his reading accentuated it, but there were parts that the writing seemed awkward. I did feel that way when I read the other books.
