Narrator ruins book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the book but the reader made it unpleasant.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cristine McMurdo-Wallis’s performances?

No! I will skip anything that she is listed as the reader.

Any additional comments?

The reader sounded like she was eating the whole time she was reading. I could hear her breathing and swallowing throughout. She didn't use different "voices" for the different characters.

Chewing gum???

Honestly, I’m not even done with the book. I just had to write a review to warn people. I can’t even tell you at this point what I’ve listened to, I’m so distracted by the narrator i can’t concentrate on the story. The narrator- let’s just put aside her 5 pack a day smoker’s voice, which is difficult in and of itself but what is driving me bat sh*t crazy is the fact that every character sounds like they are chewing gum. So, I’m trying to listen to the story but find myself more focused on figuring out if she has gum in her mouth, maybe for the purpose of keeping her throat wet so she doesn’t start hacking up a lung, or does she have an over abundance of saliva that she has a hard time swallowing. By the time I realize that I’ve zone out of the story and am more focused on the narrator, I’ve missed a bunch of the book.
It’s extremely distracting and I don’t know if I’ll be able to even finish the book.

What a thriller

Once again Lisa Jackson writes another thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat and wondering who the killer could possibly be It had me guessing until the end when it was clear who the killer was

Terrible to listen to.

Whoever produced this apparently did not listen to it! Ugh. Have been an avid audiobook listener for years - this is the worst book ever! The narrator was smacking her gums or needed a drink or something. It was very strange & gross to listen to her struggle through reading each line. Good story but terrible performance. Will not buy another book read by this person.

Terrible narration

So many background sounds it takes away from the story. Narrator is constantly swallowing and making mouth noises.
Will never listen to books she narrates again.

Would be a good read only

Sounds like the narrator is chewing gum. Very distracting! It's a good story with a poor performance.

The narrator!

I've read and listened to Lisa Jackson books for years and always look forward to them. This one was not enhanced by the narrator. While the voices and inflections were good, the constant swallowing sounds were so distracting. It truly sounds like she has the worst case of dry-mouth ever!

This book was great! Not so the Narrator!

This was a surreal story, a wonderful idea! My Only problem is with this Narrator. You can hear her smacking her lips, they sound dry. She can be heard swallowing noisily. Add in the breathing heavily and it's just Gross!

Chilling thriller!

I listen to at least 3 books a month. This story is the best one I've heard in a long time. Sandra Brown, Nora Roberts, and Heather Grahm are a few of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed Lisa Jackson's books too, but The Morning After is the best book I've heard or read in a long time. The story was riveting, it was well paced and so creepy! I loved that it scared me without being gory. I had no idea who the bad guy was! The narrater was good in that the voices were well done and did not distract from the story at all. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a light romance.
