Good story

Fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this
I thought the ending was great really brings it all together

Twists and turns!

This was a fun read. Mr. Soule weaves his tale in a way that surprised me more than a few times!

A Complex Thriller And Whodunit.

"The Monster" tells the story of the unnamed main character whose life is torn apart by a serial killer who stalks him and murders people in a manner that frames the main character for the crimes. With each encounter, the main character's life and relationships with the people in his life are destroyed. The story is a thrilling, complex, intense study in the psychological descent of the main character as he both fights to survive whats happening to him while also trying to stop the monster that's fixated on him.

I enjoyed "The Monster." It reminded me of the type of story one might have seen in the early days of television on the old black and white, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" or “One Step Beyond” or the old "Twilight Zone," TV shows. In addition to a good story, "The Monster" also benefits from good narration. Something you always want in an audiobook, though you don't always get it. Finally, this free, review copy audiobook was given to me at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

This was a great book!

This was a trifecta the story was great the narrator was great in the overall theme of the experience was great. I loved it it was a lot darker than I thought it was going to be, but I love that as well. A good narrator can make or break an audiobook. I think this narrator only added to the experience in a big way. They do have narrators that just read the book and that’s it. This is one that sounds as if he too is into the story and is really good at doing different characters. I loved it and recommend it to anyone who likes horror murder mysteries and crime books even though this covers a lot of other genres. This was a great book!

I felt very neutral about this story and it's narrator.It is all just 'ok'.Not bad,not great,just ok. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.' 

Intense Thriller

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are mine.

Here, a college student and his girlfriend have ended their relationship. He then sees his good friend being romantic with her at a party. Suddenly the friend is stabbed. The student is charged but he claims that he is innocent and he saw the stabber, nicknamed "The Puppet." When the student shows up in court, he witnesses the Judge being murdered in court - again he claims it was "The Puppet." Now he's on the run and trying to determine how to prove his innocence.

This is a short but very intense thriller. The MC is well-developed. The well written story has all sorts of clever twists which keep the reader guessing [no spoilers]. This is a story you will think about long after you've finished it - Highly recommend!

The narrator did a wonderful job and had a great tone for this story.

Whodunnit?

Story keeps you in its grip until the last sentences, causing you to suspect first one person then another.

Loved It

Josh Soule has everything I love in a book. Action, mystery, some drama, and most importantly a bad ass Assassin hell bent on revenge. I really enjoy the writing style and how the author gives you cut scenes so you feel like your seeing everything unfolding from multiple perspectives. The action is non stop and will keep you strapped in.

A Great Thriller

Started a little slow but caught my interest quickly. Could not put down. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. A very good audiobook. I would like to recommend it to everyone.

Nice One

Very interesting story about complex issues that are of doubtful possibility. Kept one waiting for the next step and in anticipation of the next turn. Don't know exactly how I enjoyed except it kept you involved.

A caterpillar on a city sidewalk...

This is the intense and disturbing first person monologue of an unnamed, emotionally immature college student who finds himself accused of assault, then murder, following the shooting of the judge at his hearing. Distraught by the ending of his year long relationship with girlfriend, Kelly, and the perceived betrayal of best friend, Tony, he goes on the run, only to be further pursued by the sinister Puppet Man.

The Monster is a quick to read novella which brand attention from the very first line ('Once in every generation, a monster awakes') and holds on tightly thereafter, as the teller of the tale pours out his lonliness, fears and unhappiness as he runs away from arrest and the charge of murder, finding help in unlikely places. The writing is vibrant and direct, the characters of not only the main protagonist but also the other players gently surfacing as the story proceeds. It is a book that lingers in the mind after it has been finished and the reader has moved on.
Narration is by Scott Cluthe, who becomes our nameless story teller; his deep, almost languid, voice is full of expression and appropriate intonation. A fine performance.

My thanks to the rights holder of The Monster, who, at my request via Audiobook Boom, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. It was an immersive and enjoyable short thriller that I am very glad to have read, and definitely recommend to anyone who likes their narrative directly from the mindset of the main protagonist, and with the wrinkles of a psychological thriller. Good, unusual story and, though short, thought provoking, a tad scary and well worth a listen.

So Much Thrill

The author has packed so much thrill in this story. This book kept me interested until the end and the conclusion was a surprise. It is well written and pretty easy to follow. I would recommend it to all mystery lovers.

Super Story

It is really a super story which will make you skim in it. Lots of great detective work. Kept me guessing until the end. Leaves a person wondering if the killer was truly insane or pure evil. It made my day.

Interesting Story

I really enjoyed this book. There were many ins and outs, much conflicting evidence and much footwork to find the killer. The story wrapped up very beautifully.

Terrifying

It is A great detective thriller that has bizarre deaths and an ever changing list of suspect. The detectives have to work short handed due to an on the job injury, god book. I recommend his book.

Wow!

I was glad I got to read this book. The plot is unusual and exciting. It is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing what is going to be happened. It is the beauty of any story.

This was a trippy, twisty, turny story that kept me interested. Overall, it was a great piece of work by the author. I would definitely grab more books by Josh Soule.

Lovely

I had a hard time getting into this book. However, once I did, I enjoyed it. The story had some interesting twists and turns right until the very end. I would recommend it.

Awesome

I really enjoyed this book and can recommend it to those who like suspense novels and those who like a good murder mystery. The characters are believable and well developed. The story is well put together, brick by brick. And the end was a great surprise. Very few mysteries take me by surprise!
