Publisher's Summary

Do you walk into your bedroom and feel yourself get completely overwhelmed by all of the stuff you have collected? Do you find it hard to function with lots of stuff around? Do you want to make your home a place of peacefulness and create a feeling of relaxation? Then keep reading....

For many years I had what I call a “I must have it” attitude rather than a “do I actually need this?” mentality. I was run by material things thinking that this was what was going to make me happy and was going to make me popular. What this eventually turned into was a bedroom with 32 pairs of shoes, books I hadn’t touched stored under my bed because I had ran out of space on my bookshelf, and kitchen cupboards that had to be opened carefully because there was so much crap in there that some items were leaning on the cupboard door. It was a cluttered mess and at the end of it, I still couldn’t figure out what to wear every morning.

Now if you are reading this then I am sure you can sympathize and if you are anything like me you have tried more than once to change your ways and probably failed. I failed multiple times before I finally got a handle on it.

One thing you need to realize is that minimalization isn’t one-size-fits-all and it doesn’t have to mean complete deprivation. Unlike other books on minimalism that give you a brief overview spread out over the length of a novel or spend the entire book going into a religious stratosphere, this book will give you a blueprint with practical steps that you can implement immediately to declutter and simplify the five most important aspects of life in a way that suits you personally.

In this book you are going to learn:

  • Three mistakes people make that will sabotage your minimalism attempt
  • How to have 1000 different outfits with only 30 items of clothing
  • The one thing you need to introduce into your life that will completely cut out negativity for good
  • The only four areas of your life you need to sort out to achieve the ultimate mental and physical health for you and your family
  • The one thing you need to understand first prior to beginning your minimalist journey that overwhelms people causing them to quit
  • And much more....

A minimalist lifestyle is something you absolutely can live; like myself you may have made it more complicated than it has to be. This book simplifies the game plan so that you will change your life even if you have failed in the past.

Good read

I found this to be a really good read. I picked it up after perusing their site and listening to their podcast. The five core values make perfect sense and are ones that I want to apply daily. Minimalism is just about getting rid of stuff and living with less, but more about maximizing how we live. This book is a great start for how to get there.

I'LL BE BACK

Just finished the book and found it very inspiring. Love the direct style, the constant reminder that we are all different. Now will read again and do what is suggested, needed and helpful. My 5 values are twisted in a knot. SO, I'LL BE BACK TO LET YOU KNOW HOW THE FOLLOW THROUGH GOES. This is a MUST read for everyone frustrated with life and it's lows.

The idea that these guys have is a great way to live a simple happy life. Even if you don't want to be a minimalist, this book give you great ways to incorporate some of these practices in your everyday life. I did the challenge and I honestly felt very relived because I didn't have to worry so much about the unimportant things and focus more on a positive atmosphere. Thanks guys, LOVED this book!

Honestly these guys aren't always the most

Honestly these guys aren't always the most relatable - we don't all have 6 figure jobs we can walk away from and quickly pay off our debt - but the insights here are universal. Don't focus on what you don't have in common with Joshua in Ryan, instead look for the common ground and those "YES" moments that make you realize that we are all drowning in stuff, commercialism and "busy," and we just don't have to. This book is a great place to start, and their podcast is also great. Yes, sometimes they come off as pretentious. but these guys got me into minimalism 4 years ago and it has made a drastic difference on my quality of life. When I find myself getting overwhelmed or bogged down, I come back to this book for a refresher and to help me recenter.

Good explains.

This book is the antithesis of that. It shows you how to eliminate the pointless from your life. This lets you not only save money by not buying things you do not need but also lets you forget about having to place an emphasis on material wealth.

Excellent choice. I felt better about my home after reading it before I even got started with my decluttering. You will, too.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It really outlines what minimalism is and it is much different than what I thought going in. It's not about living off the least things possible but more about getting things out of your life that don't have a purpose. This is well written and organized. It is an easy read and I would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their life in any way.

A am already pretty minimalistic but you can always improve. We live in a world where materials are more important than dreams, purpose, and meaning and this book explains how you can turn that around.

A definite inspiration

If you want to be inspired by two guys who changed their lives, then I would definitely recommend this book. It shows how most people have gotten caught up with "Keeping up with the Jones'". A definite inspiration if you are looking to focus on what's really important and necessary to live a happy live.

I purchased this book after watching their documentary on Netflix. The experience of learning about their philosophies came at a time in my life when I have been feeling very lost and empty, feeling that I need to make some major changes. The minimalist philosophy was exactly what I needed and I am excited about the prospect of moving forward from here to improve my life & the lives of others!!

Good listening.

So much written in this book really made me stop and think! It is a short, yet, concise look at how manipulated we can all be with the excessive consumerism in our world today. The sad truth is that we are all victims of this manipulated consumerism just about everywhere we look.
