Publisher's summary

A sorcerer's fortress. A lost heir. A determined princess.

Gwen, second of the 12 princesses of Ituria, has given up on happy endings. After a neighboring kingdom's heir stole her heart and then disappeared four years ago, she buried her heartache and vowed to serve her sisters. Her most recent mission: to arrange a match with her sister Hazel and the lost heir's youngest brother.

When her traveling party is ambushed, her flight from danger leads her into the path of a blindfolded man with a familiar smile. Imprisoned with him deep in the forest, Gwen and her fellow captives are at the mercy of a treacherous beauty on a mission of her own. Contending with her schemes - and a love potion gone awry - they must find a way past enchanted stone guardians, who are capable of crushing not only their bodies but also their dreams.

Even better than the first book

I flew through listening to this book. I kept finding cleaning I could do around the house just so that I could keep listening. The narrator is on my list of excellent narrators, and she really settles into the world in this book, feeling at home and comfortable bringing these characters to life. Would highly recommend.

The Midsummer Night and her Captives

This so far is my favorite book in the Firethorn Chronicles! Gwen and her sister Hazel are traveling with Princes Theodore and Holic, They are attacked by stone dragons and are separted in the chaos of the fight. Gwen chases after what she assumes to be a wild man, but it is Crown Prince Edric who everyone had thought was dead. They are held captive in the forest by a girl and the trap of another Wizards sorcery, Add in a love potion and selfish girl who is in love with herself and three princes, one who is in love with Gwen but the other two the potion makes them think that they are in love with ... . Gwen . This is not a reverse harem story although there are several humorous parts and a really great retelling of A Midsummer Night Dream.
This story is clean, fun and filled with adventure! Let the series continue! and Happily Ever Afters.
