Publisher's Summary

My husband has been keeping secrets for a long time. He thinks I don’t know what he does outside of this house. But I know everything....

Karla watches silently as Jason hurriedly packs his belongings into a suitcase. She knows that her stillness is unnerving him as she watches his every move from the doorway of their bedroom.

Clothes are screwed up and packed into the case, along with a watch she bought him for his last birthday and his precious laptop. He takes everything from his bedside table. Everything except the framed wedding photo, which now stands alone. Karla strains to see the smiling faces in the photo. If only she knew then what she knows now.

"I’ve fallen in love with someone else", he’d said to her, just moments earlier. The brutality of those words hit Karla hard and she struggled to breathe as she took in each word in turn.

You may think you know what Karla will do next. But you’ll be wrong. Because Karla isn't who you think she is. Only she knows what's about to happen. And you will never see it coming.

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller for listeners who loved The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl, and The Other Woman.

Prepare for disappointment!

This was one of the worst books I have ever read. Everything was so, so stupid and completely ridiculous. I hated every character but Carla was truly the most hated character of any book I have ever read. A truly disappointing read/listen! Do not waste your time!!

Too much overdone drama and angst

Every page was another page of various characters agonizing over their HORRIBLE PLIGHTS. It got to the point of humorous as they went from extreme self blame to extreme anxiety to extreme belligerence to extreme sorrow. The narrator had to be exhausted after having to express all that constant high emotion.

Don’t waste your time

Starts out okay, then it goes downhill fast. The female character is insane in such a stupid way. Not believable

Yawn

I love psychological, suspense books. However, this one lost my interest so many times while listening. I got confused about the back-and-forth storyline and what was happening. I also had no sympathy for the protagonist, I actually very much disliked her. All of that said, I’ve never rated a buck this low, ever! But, had to do a truthful feedback so others may not spend their credit/money on it. So sad.

Horrible ending

Took so long to finish this book because it was so boring. Really nothing to the plot. There’s one major question at the end, but it just ended, leaving you hanging. Definitely won’t be purchasing another book by this author.

This book drags...

I even found myself saying aloud "this is boring." Which made me wonder, why are you trying to see this through? Just get your credit back.

Is it the end yet?

A bit long winded at times. There were several points at which I thought the wrap up of the plot could’ve begun but frustratingly didn’t. With that said I didn’t predict all the twists in the end

Not the best

This book went from good to bad. The downhill spiral was so overwhelming. Not to mention the wife went from sympathetic to completely loathsome in a hurry.

Couldn't finish this.

Awful cliched writing. Bland and ponderous story line with characters you just can't warm to. Could not finish this and gave up very quickly. Waste of a credit.

The Martiage Trap

I don't know why I listened to this ridiculous story. All the characters revealed to be related in a mess of relationships. No women would stay in such a pointless marriage just for the money. The plot was like a soup with too many ingredients. Thoroughly daft.

Don’t bother

One of the worst books I have ever read or listened to and very frustrating! The premise of the book is not bad but it is poorly executed; the so called “secret” is revealed too soon and from then on the plot line is plodding, unnecessary and irrelevant with with characters that are unconvincing and unbelievable given the situation the characters find themselves in. The ending is also poor. And the plot twist isn’t a twist at all - it simply doesn’t make sense. I was left almost scratching my head saying “really?!” The references to #metoo are lazy, crass and are not dealt with with the care and sensitivity it needs.
Re-written and re-configured, this could be a reasonable “thriller” dealing with some important issues but as it is, don’t bother.

I'm not sure how I finished it.

I wanted to shake the main character the whole way through the book. honestly felt that if I heard her declare he love one more time I'd go mad.

Awful

If I had to describe this book in three words I would say: boring, repetitive and irritating. There is a secret (that we as the reader learn very early on) that means a married couple can't stay together. 95% of the book is the couple (from each of their perspectives) ruminating on the break up and going through the same boring thought processes over and over again. Flat, dull, unrealistic characters. And then it ends in the most ridiculous way imaginable. Worst book I've read it a long time.

It's a bit slow

The end couple of chapters was the best part of the story it took far to long to get to the point. I am glad I listened rather than read this book because I would have given up about a third way in.
