Definitely recommend it

I was given this book for free from audiobook boom and asked to leave an unbiased review for the author and narrator.
I enjoyed this collection of books, in 2 of them, there’s not a lot of boring parts – as in character or location building. Its written as a true scary story of ghosts etc rather than what previous generations try to pass off as horror stories that are based on blood and guts. Plus its one heck of a value with 37+ hrs for one credit. I would recommend it and definitely would have used a credit on it.
I enjoyed the 1st book, it started out good and stayed strong, straight to the action which is what I love.
The 2nd one had a lot of inconsistencies for me, but it was still entertaining. The only thing I would say to the author would be attention to detail. Especially with a book about the supernatural you want to make the events surrounding it as believable as possible to bolster the supernatural aspect of the story. Curtis and Bob are wresting with a gun in Bob’s office, which is right across the street from a coffee shop. The gun fires and shatters the office window, but no one calls the police???? Mary and Theo are hiding in the Pastor’s house, 3 murderers who slaughtered a bunch of people enter the house looking for Mary, the lead guy says search the house, but then says hey come here I think I found what were looking for so they all just stop looking for Mary and go upstairs???? Mary and Theo are hiding in the barn from serial killers, but rather trying to escape and save their lives they mess around looking for a hidden item and playing with their telepathic abilities???? This whole section of the book makes no “common sense”. The whole traffic stop on Bob and Curtis which ended in deputy Ramirez being shot makes no sense, the deputies action don’t fit with what a trained police officer would do. Ramirez calls in a traffic stop on them, yet they take the time to hide Ramirez body and vehicle rather than just leaving??? Her husband is being held by a murderer possible serial killer, yet Mary stops and takes the time to try and open the safe and go through the contents???? How did the mayor all of a sudden know the safe was buried under the pastor’s barn? Mary and Theo find Ramirezes vehicle hidden in the woods, but don’t see the pool of blood 50’ away and don’t call 911 even though Curtis told Mary that Bob killed Ramirez – by this time she doesn’t suspect the police anymore.
The 3rd book started out too slow for me. Too much “story” stuff in it for my taste. I like the whole thing to be exiting and to the point. It dd pick up, but it was like it picked up slowed down with the every day mundane stuff of life, then picked up the book is like a slow rollercoaster.
I thought the narrator was pretty good. She has a pleasant voice and used inflections and such to make the narration better rather than sounding like she was just “reading” the book. The only thing that drove me crazy was due to my own personal irritations as in e-l-t-s-e rather than e-l-s-e, p-u-l-t-s not pulse, f-a-l-t-s not false pretty much all words ending in the lse and v-a-h-e-e-m-e-n-l-y rather than vehemently, and her getting the characters names wrong “He pointed the hot barrel at Chris” There’s no Chris in the story. All in all though the narration was good.

Best for last

First 2 stories are ok, nothing too original. They kind of limp through standard horror tropes with little character development & a lot of he said/she said. The last story is much more engaging and even a little bit scary at moments. Once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. It was well crafted, with good pacing and a satisfying conclusion.
