This is the story of man named Shane Cronley who is a father, husband, and retired firefighter/EMT who has suffered and battled against rheumatoid arthritis since 2006. Shane also has degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis, and spinal atrophy, which contributed to his L5-S1 back surgery in April 2018.

This story talks about his early life, joining the military, early signs of RA, working as a firefighter overseas, responding to emergency calls while in severe pain and limited mobility, overcoming alcoholism, struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, medications, and providing for his family.

This audiobook is for anyone who may be struggling and fighting against severe disabilities or just day-to-day issues. Hopefully his story gives inspiration to keep fighting another day.

It is almost a copy of my live the only difference is I was a Policeman.

It hits close to home.

I purchased this book looking to find encouragement and ways to live a normal active life with RA. While Shane lead a very active life, it definitely seems like the book was written as if he needed someone to talk to about his life. Good book if you want to listen to a guy tell his life story in a “sitting at the bar” type of way. Not quite the book you’re looking for if you’re looking for something to help you with your diagnosis.

A life well served but not every story needs told.

I have RA and I tried to relate to the author, but I just couldn’t.
I wanted to like this book, but it read like a podcast gone wrong.

Meh
