Publisher's Summary

Two strangers never meet. One of them ends up dead. The other is accused of murder.

Jodi Brown is walking her beloved dog, Milo, in a North London wood, unaware that she is being stalked. When her dog is stolen and later returned to her by Samantha Hooper, Jodi believes this to be an act of kindness, and a friendship develops between the two young women. What she doesn’t know - is that Samantha is intent on using Jodi to commit the perfect murder.

This suspenseful psychological thriller revolves around Samantha Hooper, a disturbing presence who drives the story, Jodi Brown the unsuspecting prey who gets caught up in Samantha’s net and Raif Kennedy, a slick American with a beautiful wife and a colourful past. Jude Brown, Jodi’s estranged musician brother, heavily in debt and with a history of alcohol abuse, completes the foursome.

What links these characters together is love, lust and betrayal. All four don’t leave through the same door they came in. And one of them doesn’t make it out at all....

Unbelievable

...............and the narration by the author was dreadful. I did try to become interested in the novel but what I listened too just made little sense and the narrator made it a whole lot worse. Doubt that I will try this author again!

clever story and brilliant to listen to.

Highly recommend this. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and didn’t see the twists coming. I cared about the characters. The story kept a steady and even pace throughout. I would absolutely listen to anything else either written by Annie Hulley or read by her - she has a soft, relaxed and easy English accent, not forced, clipped or sharp.

Utterly addictive!

This was my first ever audiobook and I found it completely compelling. I kept sneaking away from my family in order to listen to more of it! SO beautifully read, with a twisting-turning and entirely believable plot that gripped me the whole way through. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really hope there's a follow up!

Brilliant, exciting thriller with unexpected twists. Unputdownable !
I was caught up in the world of the two women who outwit each other and live to fight another day. I want to find out what happens to them in the next story. Bravo Annie Hulley!

PUT YOUR BOX SET ASIDE AND WALLOW IN THIS ....

This was my initiation into the world of audio booksI and I was kind of beguiled by the whole experience. It's a real page turner of a debut novel and you know you are in very capable hands from the offset .It's an engrossing listen.
The saga has a plot full of twists and surprises with genuinely involving ,complex characters. It starts out with deceptive simplicity and subtlety ratchets up both tension and relentless suspense unspooling into a taut psychological thriller. The added bonus being the perfectly pitched narration by the author Annie Hulley .She has a real gift.
Seductive, deft ,composed and effortless, able to wring every nuance from the tale she has so carefully crafted.Perfect winning combination of writing and storytelling.Swich on ,close your eyes and wallow in it .

What a thriller!!!!!!! Amazing ride!!!

Loved this... from the eerie opening all the way through story with its twists and turns and somersaults. Characters, all different and interesting. The two women pitted against each other, one a schemer, the other caught in a trap. And the depth of the characters - from the strange and compelling Samantha to the misfit Jodi, and just when you think you have the story sussed, you haven't and it twists again. It's as compelling as I found Gone Girl and I can see it as a movie too. The narration is silky and soft and lures you in to what you think is a cosy situation but its not cosy and the sweet tones of the narration plays against that real well.
The ending I would never have guessed in a zillion years and I like that because I can always guess the ending but not this time.
This time - it was a total surprise. Recommend this big time!
