Read/listen to it. It will change your mind.

My doctor pleaded with me to read this book. She was so excited about the discovery as she had seen dramatic changes in her patients who were now taking adequate levels of Magnesium supplement. Reluctantly, I downloaded the book from Audible. I didn't have much faith in the book changing my life or telling me anything that I didn't already know. I was wrong. Now, I am PREACHING magnesium to all that will listen! The author makes perfect sense, that many of our health issues in the US, could be from a magnesium deficiency. As the author clearly lays out, the serum magnesium tests that we have been using for years, are useless. Only 1% of Magnesium stays in the bloodstream. So if you have been testing normal, it doesn't mean your magnesium levels are normal. The newer RBC Magnesium level is more accurate.

Thank goodness I have a doctor that stays informed on the latest and is constantly honing her craft. She called me with the news about the newest and more accurate test for Magnesium and had me tested. Most doctors haven't heard of the new test, and therefore don't think it is credible. Please read this book. It makes perfect sense. I would hope that more doctors become educated on the subject as well.

Also the author believes that it is impossible to get enough magnesium in our diets without supplementing it, no matter how many organic or healthy foods we eat - Our fruits and veggies are not getting adequate magnesium from the depleted soil, therefore we can't get it from the plants we consume. She says our soils became depleted around 100 years ago. I didn't realize that SO many body functions are dependent on adequate amounts of magnesium to function properly. The book taught me a LOT that I didn't know about Magnesium, and how very important it is, much to my surprise.

At first, I found the narrator's voice a little dramatic. "Prissy" is the word that comes to mind. I came to appreciate her though, as her cadence is perfect and she enunciates perfectly.

The only problem I had with the content, is the repetitiveness of the word, Magnesium. Magnesium is good for this, magnesium is goods for that... and so forth. It would have made more sense to create lists. For example: Magnesium will help with the following: Aside from these two very minor things, I loved this book. It was eye-opening. I am all about Magnesium now. I have been on liquid Magnesium 400 mgs a day for two months and have noticed the subtle changes already. Friends that I have convinced of this, have reported good changes as well.

Read it / listen to it, and it will probably open up your eyes too. This single mineral, taken in an absorbable form, could change your life.

Enlightening

Although, even as an RN, a lot of this article was over my head, it was very enlightening and educating. I hope to incorporate a lot of what I learned into my life.

Thank GOD for this audio book!!

Would you listen to The Magnesium Miracle again? Why?

Hmm.. listening to it just ONCE is good enough. It has a TON of information, but you will get the message just listening to it once as there is a fair bit of repetition. Doesn't bother me at all. Actually I would say it's a GOOD thing, as you will remember the information more easily, instead of getting lost in a sea of information overload!

What other book might you compare The Magnesium Miracle to and why?

The Vitamin D Cure by Dr. James Dowd and Diane Stafford. There is a direct co-relation between Vitamin D and Magnesium intake for superior health and after listening to both books, would say that it goes very well together!

Which character – as performed by Pam Ward – was your favorite?

Not relevant, but very expressive narration! She makes the book 'come alive' with her energy and vibrant attitude!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh no but it DID keep me very attentive! I have discovered SO many things on this one mineral alone that has helped my personal health tremendously! Including twitching muscles in my eye lid, my life long battle with asthma, muscle cramps, and so much more!

Any additional comments?

Get this book! And get your Magnesium in your diet and medicine cabinet!! And watch your health improve!!

Good primer on Magnesium

What made the experience of listening to The Magnesium Miracle the most enjoyable?

Narration was excellent.

Would you be willing to try another book from Carolyn Dean, M.D, N.D.? Why or why not?

Probably not. Some of her health and nutritional recommendations are contrary to recent research. So even though this is a "new edition", some information is definitely dated and potential probablematic for some individuals (example: gut biome, leaky gut).

Fair amount of repition of the same information - useful if one was only reading the chapters that applied to them - tedious if you listened to the entire book.

Like the book

The narrator was not good. Mis pronouncing words and saying magneeeesium she was annoying and distracted from the book. Content good.
