Publisher's summary

Talia has a secret that will save her world or rip it apart.

Scientist Talia Zaryn has always dreamt of an alien invasion and her own death. She's kept it secret, hoping it is nothing more than childish nightmares. However, when the face in the mirror matches that of her dreams, she fears she's out of time.

Talia's work at the Space Exploration Foundation leaves no time for relationships, but Landry Sutton isn't looking for a friend. He's looking for a traitor. His ability to sense emotions convinces him Talia is the traitor until a touch sizzles between them. In an instant, their minds are connected telepathically.

Together they must uncover the secrets of Sendek's past if they hope to defeat the terrifying creatures descending on their world. Talia is the key - if she can learn to trust the magic coursing through her veins.

Complex and Entertaining

This was my first Charity Bradford's book. This is the first book in The Magic Wakes Series. Talia and Landry's story is complex, and entertaining. The characters are intriguing, and well developed. The storyline is interesting, and captivating. Ian McEuen did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Dawn of the Mages, the next book in the series. #StoryOrigin

Dragons

Talia has had nightmares since childhood, which are proving to be prophetic. Major Sutton and Talia build a romance after a rocky start. The story has plenty of action with alien invasions and dragons.
Overall this is a good story, and quickly draws you in. The characters are likeable and well developed.

Fantasy with Sci-Fi elements

Talia and Landry start out as adversaries but realize they'll have to trust each other in order to defeat the enemy who would destroy their world. This first book brings back the magic which had been banned, and replaced by technology. In the end, hundreds of the magically enabled are free to use their talents and teach others. I think that will be a problem to be solved in Book 2.

Well written, entertaining book.

Nearly 9 hours of a really interesting book, I especially loved the relationship she has with her little furry friend and the forest trees. Her dream visions are disturbing and her past sad, the fact that her looks set her apart from the community sees her ostracised by fear and superstition, yet she is a positive and likeable character. The story was well written, entertaining and had a happy ending. I have the audio version of this story which was nicely narrated.
RECOMMENDED clean book.

An engaging romance w/ fantasy and sci-fi elements

Charity Bradford writes an engaging romance with fantasy and sci-fi elements. I don't typically read romances but the premise seemed interesting and I'm glad I did. The wide range of characters are well developed, the scenarios are interesting, and the overall world is an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi. I look forward to reading book 2! Audio Version: Ian McEuen does a great job narrating this novel.

I liked the world created for this story.

This story was a cross between sci-fi and fantasy and was a bit of a roller coaster ride. The first few chapters were kind of slow. Then Talia met Landry and it all started to get more intriguing. Their various escapes from the bad guys were creative. The fight scenes were exciting. The ending leaves it open to continue Talia and Landry's adventures with even more intrigue in the next book. Looking forward to the next story,

BOOK 1 WAS REALLY GOOD. LOVED IT

LISTENERS REALLY NEED TO HEAR TO BOOK 1 BEFORE BOOK 2. EVEN THOUGH EACH DOES STAND ALONE. THEY DO EDGE TOWARD A CLIFF HANGER WITH THE DRAMA, INTRIGUE AND SUSPENCE.

ACCEPTABLE FOR TEENS AND UP.

NARRATOR IS GREAT AND EASY TO FOLLOW.

Exciting Sci-Fi Fantasy

I enjoyed this first book in "The Magic Wakes" series. Charity Bradford has written a creative story about a female scientist who has nightmare of an alien invasion and the man who is looking for the members of the organization that are traitors to the government. The world building was fascinating. The tale moved forward with plenty of action, flashes of humor, and some romance. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Ian McEuen's narration was great and enhanced the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Great story

I listened to this as an audiobook. It was refreshing to read something quite different then what my typical read is. It was entertaining. I love romance and HEA’s and wasn’t sure if this book had romance in it. But it does while still having a different focus of the book. I’m glad to know there are other books in the series. I’m looking forward to listening.
