Publisher's summary

Luck is no lady...in fact, she can be a downright bitch.

Jake:
Coming home was supposed to be my shot at redemption. Instead, I’m finding myself chasing after an irresistible blonde whose mercurial behavior could give Jekyll and Hyde a run for their money. I’ve got too much on my plate to get tied up in knots over a girl who wants nothing to do with me. But Bailey Murphy may hold the key to my redemption, and I’m not giving up on either without a fight. "Irish" might play with a poker face, but I’m about to call her bluff...and I hope like hell I’ve got luck on my side.

Bailey:
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not your typical girl. Sure, I’ve got all the parts, but I’ve been a stubborn, irreverent tomboy since the womb. Which makes it particularly ironic that my heart is so damn girly. It falls in love at the drop of a hat and leaves me to deal with the aftermath. But no more! If Jake Beckett thinks spending one night together gives him some claim on me, he’s got another thing coming - even if the mere thought of that night leaves me panting like a damn Labrador. I’m not about to open the door and let Jake in, but that choice may be taken from both our hands.

The Lucky One

What a great book! I really like this family and friends and their closeness that they have with each other. Everyone is in everyone’s business and yet they all still get along really well. These two characters are really fun to see in action, with all the drama they create. Watching their walls drop and the willingness to let someone in was fun the whole time I listened.

Funny!

Bailey and Jake's story was the same type of snarky humor that I have come to love in this series. Bailey is definitely a tender hearted person who has had her heart broken and doesn't trust herself or anyone else much. Her armour is her quick wit and snarky attitude. Jake meets his match when he hooks up with Bailey and a wedding of mutual friends.

This story brings us back into the fold of the series characters who play another major role in this story. I love that their stories continue on through the series, too, so we can see where they are at as well. There is a good love story here with a lot of good one lines. It was a good read.

The narrator did a great job bringing to life these characters.

Bailey and Jake

I would have enjoyed the story more if the chapters of Jake would have been narrated by a male narrator. I loved the story and I loved the writing style.

Yes please!

I love this series! This was another great story. Another perfect book boyfriend to fall in love with. Jake is an amazingly devoted piece of heart warming hotness!

As far as the narrator, she did good, but I really dislike when they have a female alone, instead of having a male read the male view.

Another Great Couple!

“The Lucky One” audiobook is the story of Jake and Bailey and the third book in the continuing story of the group of friends we originally met in “The Fix”.

When Jake and Bailey meet at Bailey’s brother, Nate’s, wedding, they have an immediate attraction. They spend the night together and Jake wants to see Bailey again. Unfortunately, Bailey isn’t sure, her heart has been broken too many times to count and she doesn’t consider herself much of a girl. She thinks Jake is out of her league and only likes the “girly” Bailey he met at the wedding. She doesn’t believe there is any way he could like the “real” her since she’s pretty much a tomboy that wears comfy clothes, drinks beer and watches sports. Jake, on the other hand, thinks Bailey is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen, doesn’t care what she’s wearing, likes beer and sports and wants to see her any chance he can. Jake pursues Bailey with a never ending passion and slowly breaks through her defenses.

“The Lucky One” was full of ups and downs and a few surprises. Sylvie writes the best male characters and Jake is another gem. Once again, I can’t wait for the next book.

love the sparks and the snark!

I loved the telling of Bailey and Jake's story in print, especially with the apt use of flashbacks to their rendezvous that was hinted in the epilogue of a previous book by Ms. Stewart. I was a little nervous of how the mixed timeline would be pulled off in the Audible format but the narrator did a great job keeping me in the right moment. It was a good performance of great storytelling of how impulsive decisions can have an impact on love and friendship...and ex-boyfriend's faces. Bailey's snark comes through beautifully in this reading but I was left a teensy-bit wanting when it came to Jake's growls of "Irish." Overall, I couldn't go to sleep until I'd finished listening!

What a ride

I fell in love with this story. A strong male that struggles with his passes choices a female lead that struggles with herself over what she wants and who she wants to be. Powerful dynamic and funny with just the right comic quotes.
This an audio book to listen to again and again!

Sweet, Hilarious and Steamy Romance!

I am having so much fun listening to this sweet, engaging, and steamy series and Bailey and Jake's romance was a complete delight! Bailey is just one of the guys. She is a stubborn, snarky tomboy with a tender heart and a passion for more than her families construction company. She is completely out of her element at her brother's wedding when she is forced to look all feminine making her feel brave enough to have a night of unbridled passion with her best friend Mark's, brother Jake. Jake is back in town to be closer to his mom and brother. He is totally captivated by the puzzle that is Bailey, and he loves all her different sides. Bailey doesn't feel worthy of an amazing man like Jake, but he soon wears her down. They are so much fun together with their push and pull, snarky banter, and explosive chemistry. I especially loved the hilarity of Bailey's babysitting scenes!
I enjoyed Meg Price's narration as she brought this story to life. Her accents were wonderful and I thought she really nailed these characters making me feel all their fun, awkward, emotional, and steamy moments.
I love Stewart's humor, and her easy ability to make these awkward and emotional stories feel real and authentic. This is a fun series with great characters I've come to care for and want to be friends with! I can't wait for more from The Carolina Connections!

Loved It, Very funny!

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Carolina Connections series and is written by Sylvie Stewart and narrated by Meg Price. This can be a standalone but if you want the best story start this series from the beginning so you can get to know each character. This book has it all. It is snarky, funny, feisty characters and it is hilarious. You will love Jake and Bailey and their love story. The story was great and the banter between the characters were great. Many laugh out loud moments. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. The narrator did a fabulous job with the characters and had me giggling out loud several times. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book by this great author and narrator
