A romance author. A Highland sailor. A leap through time.

Everything seems to be going hilariously wrong for bestselling author Amelia "Mills" Sutherland on her first trip to Scotland. When she's about to give up, she stumbles on Aven Valley's last cottage on the cove and meets the irresistibly charming sailor, Callum MacDowell.

Just as things start spicing up, a mystical portal in Loch Ness zaps Mills and Cal back to Aven Valley, 1645! Soon, they're stuck navigating clan rivalries, baffling customs, and the awkward challenge of pretending to be a married couple.

Will Mills and Cal make it through until the next full moon and find their way home? Can they tackle the dangers of clan feuds and cultural faux pas? And will Mills's newfound bravery be enough to seize the unexpected love waiting for her all along?

Don't miss this captivating listen filled with laugh-out-loud moments, spicy romance, adventure, and found family.

What’s your tolerance for lines like “he wore his shoes like he wore his heart: on his sleeve”? (Last sentence of chapter 15)

I was predisposed to like this story, and I think I have a pretty high tolerance for tropey plots and cringey dialogue.

I rolled my eyes at the heroine’s dumb shoe theory and her dismay at pulling her Scottish MMC out of the water only to discover, alas, that he was wearing NO shoes by which to judge him.

I rolled my eyes harder when he said something to the effect of “I’ve only known you for a couple of hours and I can already tell you’re unlike any woman I have ever met.” (No, she’s not in the circus or a world-renowned genius scientist or anything really remarkable up to this point, so he’s either a player or incredibly sheltered and isolated)

I rage quit at wearing his shoes on his sleeve. I turned off the audiobook and sat in angry silence for a few minutes. I was 3 1/2 hours in, nothing terribly interesting had happened (including any time travel), the narrator’s Scottish accent was not great, but about average for audiobook narrators without extensive training in accents, and I felt that I would rather finish my drive in silence than listen to any more of the book.

This was so cute!!!!!!! The story was fun and engaging, I saw so much of myself in Amelia. I LOVED Cal. Swoon worth Highlander? Yes please! I can’t wait for book 2. Jacci is one of my FAVORITE narrators and I loved her performance in this audiobook so much! So good!

Quirky & Adventurous with FANTASTIC narration!

I laughed and I cried and was able to escape for a while into this charming story. The narrator did a really good job juggling all the characters. Looking forward to book 2.

I will read over 100 books this year and this is 1 of 2-3 I cannot finish. Absolutely horrible writing.
