Publisher's summary

Is there a forgotten spiritual tool that offers each one of us the ability to heal ourselves, our relationship with others, and even our endangered planet? Yes, says Gregg Braden. On The Lost Mode of Prayer, Braden examines evidence from both modern science and ancient texts to shed light on a secret lost to humanity in the year 325. This knowledge was relegated to elite priesthoods and mystery schools in the fourth century, leaving a crucial gap in our understanding of the world. "At best," says Braden, "our view of history, religion, science - even the way we love - has been based on an incomplete understanding of our past." Now, through newly translated texts preserved by the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Braden reveals the inner workings of this powerful force sleeping in the mists of our ancient memory - and how to use this "inner technology" to create profound changes in ourselves and those around us.

Opening a door

This book is a valuable lesson in a simple, basic prayer method. You get to take advantage of the author's extensive research, knowledge, and experience. If everyone who believes in prayer and a higher power practiced this prayer method, it would be hard to imagine that the world would not be a better place. This book shows that the traditional methods of prayer, although they have their place, don't have near the potential of this lost mode. I really liked this book, and would give it five stars for content. However, because it tended to be more of a lecture, it could have been better in guiding the listener/reader in the art of practical application. As a result, I gave only four stars.

The Lost Mode of Prayer

This book can help lift the ceiling on our beliefs to achieve a more genuine connection with God through workable, sensible, honorable methods of prayer in the empowering way that was intended by the Ancients. Knowledge of the past can break the bonds of modern fear-based religious conditioning and dispel superstitions which encourage us to close our minds and refrain from questioning. The Lost Mode of Prayer provides a better understanding of our part in the process of prayer and can return both joy and responsibility to our relationship with the Divine. Gregg's endless enthusiasm, academic brilliance, spiritual wisdom, and utterly unpretentious manner make this an additionally delightful selection. Highly recommended.

Claptrap and Mumbo Jumbo

I felt like I had wandered into a cheap hotel ballroom seminar with the presenter droning and rambling on while throwing in vague references to Dead Sea Scrolls and Egytian hyroglyphics nearly in the same breath. The only reason I listened to the whole thing was to see if he brought up crop circles, UFO's or telepathy with little gray men from Roswell NM!

Unabashed Pseudo-Scholarship

First of all, understand that I never finished listening to this work. But I did get more than halfway through without learning a thing about any so-called Lost Mode of Prayer. As I listened to the author weave his fabric of myth, legend, misinterpretation and outright invention, the conviction grew in me that the art of selling snake oil is not dead. Not for the thinking mind.

I liked it so well I read it five times

This is a very intellectual discussion of prayer from an atheist perspective. It won't matter what religion you associate with, because the principle of prayer is universal.

truly bad

sadly this is extremely poorly researched. The underlying thesis is the same as a great many other similar books on Attraction. But he claims all sorts of sources that don't exist or are not what he says they are. This does the whole movement harm.

Excellent Discourse on the Power of Prayer

I thoroughly enjoyed this auidable feature. Gregg 's narration was engaging and informative!

The ideas expressed are laid out in a style that retains interest all the way through to a lovely meditative prayer at the closing of the presentation.

The lost mode of prayer will correct your understanding of the aspects of prayer long forgotten and renew lost teachings of ancient civilisations such as the Essenes of the middle East... the Mayan cultures of South America and right up to present day understandings of the Hopi tribal people of North America.

Excellent listening experience...... I'll be sure to tune into Gregg Braden s other offerings on audiable in the near future!

Simply Powerful

Having heard Gregg speak in London more than once, I should not have been surprised at the profundity, simplicity and potential of this book. But I was; and am. Many thanks to Audible for taking the author from printed page to the immediacy of Gregg's voice and, it feels, living presence.
