Publisher's summary

It was the summer of 1965. Ray, Tim, and Jennifer were just three teenage friends hanging out in the campgrounds, drinking a little. But Tim and Jennifer didn't know what their friend Ray had in mind. And if they'd known, they wouldn't have thought he was serious. Then they saw what he did to the two girls at the neighboring campsite - and knew he was dead serious.

Four years later, the 60s were drawing to a close. No one ever charged Ray with the murders in the campgrounds, but there was one cop determined to make him pay. Ray figured he was in the clear. Tim and Jennifer thought the worst was behind them, that the horrors were all in the past. They were wrong. The worst was yet to come.

Story was okay, narrator not so much.

Wow, the narrator of this book seemed to have English as his second language. Doesn't anyone listen to these audio books before they publish. Do yourself a favor and read the book on your own. If you have gotten passed the fifth grade, you will enjoy reading it with proper pronunciations!

Disappointing story

Sorry - thought this book would be better with the Stephen King quote on the cover. Never warmed up to the book - the characters were never really developed and story was very east to predict. The narrator was horrible. His pronunciation of simple words made it painful. Don't select this title!

Decent Thriller

Overall, I was intrigued. I liked the story and it kept me interested the whole time. I don’t think I could hate the main character any more than I do. Although I liked some of the other characters, the author failed to fully develop them and create an empathy in readers for them. I wish I cared more. A few people hate the narrator but I didn’t think he was bad. Not a lot of “saving grace” in this book. Dark all the way through which was depressing

Only Ketchum

I don't know any other horror writers that could put so much heart and compassion into a story as relentlessly bleak as this one.
Stephen King, sure, but it takes him 800 pages.
Dean Koontz, yeah maybe, but his moralizing can get out of control.
Richard Laymon... No. Really just no.

One of my new favorites by Jack, it tempts me to go back and listen to all his other ones I have (excepting, probably, Ladies Night.)
