Publisher's Summary

In The Lonely Men, Louis L’Amour spins the tale of a man who must elude an Apache trap - only to discover that his greatest enemy might be very close to home.

Tell Sackett had fought his share of Indians and managed to take something of value from his battles: a deep and abiding respect. But that respect is lost when Apache braves kidnap his nephew, forcing Tell to cross the border into the Sierra Madres to bring the boy back. What troubles Tell more, though, is the boy’s mother: Could she possibly be inventing a rescue mission to deliver her husband’s brother into an ambush?

Tell knows that the only things he can depend on are his wits and cold steel. But against such adversaries, even these formidable weapons may not be enough.

Exciting addition to Sackett series

Loved the story of Tell Sackett. Exciting addition to Sackett series. Did not like long pauses between chapters and sometimes for dramatic effect I suppose

For the love of western literature.

The history of factual American western literature came to an end the day that Louis L'Amour passed away. Someone once said that if Louis wrote about a stream, it was there and the water was good to drink. This book is no exception to that. statement.

Exciting and adventurous from beginning to end

Couldnt stop listening, powerfully written filled with edge of your seat excitement. Great scences and beatiful landscapes descriptions. Follows true L’Amour fashion for western Sackett heroism.

Another enjoyable L'Amour story

Enjoyed the story and the narration. Narrator has a lovely voice, especially for this type of story.
Only negative related to the editing rather than anything else. There were overlong silent pauses between most chapters and a couple of places where the voice just faded towards the end of a sentence. That's the only reason I've knocked a star off.

Excellent listen

Very well narrated, very good storyline with some tragedy. As noted elsewhere not sure why the very lengthy silences between chapters in some cases. but definitely a worthwhile listen.
