Good narrator.. cringey story

I read this because I found out one of my favored childhood movies was based off of this series. I was seriously disappointed. The movie was exponentially better than this story.. it felt so cringey! I wish I had never found out about this book. It just makes me want to watch the movie to purge it from my mind!
